I'm thinking about buying a new 80mm fan for my sk-6 and putting it on at a 45 degrees angle. I've done this before but I wasn't satisfied with the temperature considering it was a <19 cfm fan. What is the quietest/performance ratio 80mm fan? Price isn't really a big issue but I don't want to spend any more than like 15-20 bucks. Also, where can I get this? (PLEASE TELL ME PLACE)

thanks.

EDIT: I plan to have the fan sucking because I hear it's better... (?) I think.

SK-6 was NOT meant to have the fan sucking. It is designed to have the fan pushing air through the fins, not the other way around. However, in some cases, it casn be better to have the fan sucking. 99% of people are better off with the fan blowing though.

I would recommend a Panaflo M1H which I think you can get from 2cooltek, coolerguys orsidewinder

wait run this by me again... i am using sk6 with panaflo h1a 80mm fans. and i have the fans sucking the air out of the heatsink. and ive not had any problems in months of usage... even though i dont actually monitor temps. i am supposed to have it blowing air down into the heatsink or sucking air up and out of the heatsink?

This is only better (at least in the latest popular heatsinks) for the Alphas, which were designed specially to do THAT.

Can any of you guys point me to site on how to put a 80mm fan on a sk6.
Can you post pictures on how your cpu fan is made.

I have recently replaced all my case fans(#2) and my antec 300w power supply fan with 80 mm panaflow fans and i have noticed a significant decrease in the noise. My next project was to put a quiter fan on my sk6 it currently has a YS-Tech /34db/24cfm fan on it and I believe most of the noise I am hearing is from this fan.

If you guys can tell me how you mounted a 80 mm fan to this without any expensive adaptors that would be great.

Thanks for pics It looks like something even I can do. Will try this tonight. I was kind of worried about the center of the 80mm fan having a large diameter that it practically blocks 1/4 of the Heatsink. But if it works for you guys I will give it a shot.

Thanks again

I just purchased a Slim Fan Adapter 80mm to 60mm and an Enmax 80x25mm Adjustable Fan

Where is the info about the fan "blowing" down onto a sk-6????? I cant see how that is correct..

what do you guys think about this variable speed 80 mm fan (has knob to adjust speed built in) it looks pretty quite even with highest speed setting.

I think you can mount it the same way as panaflow if you remove the grill. also it has a 3 pin connector so that you can monitor your an speed via mother board monitor .

Sidewinder Sally says you'll adore this fan as soon as you plug her in. The 80mm Clear Ultra-Cool fan features a built-in Speed Dial you can use for variable settings from 1000 to 3000 RPM.

Description:
At its lowest setting, the fan is extremely quiet. Few fans are as quiet.

At its strongest setting, the fan's performance compares to the popular Sunon 80mm High Speed fan but without the noise. Sidewinder Sally loves the strong, silent type.

Topping it off, this stylish fan boasts a shiny Gold Grille. Also, it comes with four screws and a 3-to-4-pin power adapter so that you can attach it to your power supply.

Specifications: 80x80x25mm, 2.76w .23 amp, 12v DC (6v starting voltage), 3-pin Molex connector.

Low(1000 RPM): 25.4 CFM; 21 dBA
Medium(2000 RPM): 32.37 CFM; 27.4 dBA
High(3000 RPM): 39.8 CFM; 32.6 dBA

Heat is going to travel out through the fins...blowing air down on the sink seems like it would not let it take that course...I will flip mine around tonight and post if there is a change..I really doubt that it will improve my temps..

Is this something that the manufacturer suggests, to blow?
