so in otherwards, keyboard is alright and graphics suck. But other than that....I can't see anything else bad about it.

If you are a Sams Club member you can get the version without the 802.11 but with the 40gb hard drive for $897

From what I've been hearing it's a nice notebook but it's a little fragile and the video is supposedly slow.

not that hot, b/c its the price evey place has it at (I think STaples has it for $40 more). But for a thin and light notebook, you should not be expecting good graphics, so you really cannot go wrong..

Best Buy has it for the same price but with $100 more in rebates. If I had to buy a notebook right now, I would probably go with this (I would just need a mobile word processor).

I have been researching for notebooks for about a month or so. Looked into Aveartec too. They are pretty sleek but a touch fragile.
The 12 inch notebook has been out for quite while and there have been major issues with the size of the keyboard and built quality.
They just changed the processor, were with celeron & now have AMD I guess.
I think you could get a compaq/hp for $100 more. They had free shipping, $100 mail in and you could get another 10% off notebooks with the coupon floating or maybe a dell. Rather wait till the thanks giving sales !!

Hmm, not bad for something so small and light. How does this fare in terms of construction, quality, and speed vs. for example, the HP/Compaq XP2400+ laptops at a similar price range?

Looks to me that aside from the slower 1600+ chip here vs. the 1.8GHz 2400+ Bartons in Compaqs, this thing should be much better. The user ratings all look pretty good, though there are only four of them.

I have a 2400 from HP. Thing is relativly heavy (not that 7 pounds is that much) and hot. Lots of power though, I need to install win2k on it though and get that xp crap off it.

Not hot at all.
It was $700 last week at Office Depot ($1049-250rebates-10% coupon) and that was even a higher model. These usually are on sale at staples or OD for around $800-900.

Anyway, i had one for a while and they are excellent. Yes, theyre "affordable" but they definitely are high quality and their support is great. For the price (not this price though) then they are incredible for people who want a good feature packed subnotebook.

BTW. Please learn how to label your threads. A brand name and the store wouldve helped alot of people save time.

I couldn't deal with the backspace key on the thing, but other than that, it was a quick little notebook. Would have kept it if the keyboard hadn't sucked hard.
