I see the GTS has only one PCIe power connector, and the GTX has two. Also, I noticed in AT's article, the GTS uses less power than the 7950 GX2. I am trying to figure out if this will run on a PSU in a Dell XPS 410, which is only rated at 375W but does 18A on each of two 12V rails. Dell offers the 7950 GX2 with the XPS 410, so I am thinking I should be ok with an 8800 GTS, but could have problems with the GTX.

Anyway, thanks OP, much better price than everyone else. Hopefully, prices will drop soon.

well, they reccomend 400w for the GTS. Might be okay if you're not running much stuff or planning on overclocking.

PNY might be a better price for the time being, but their warranty isn't all that hot. EVGA, XFX, and BFG should be your first choices.

Guys, I know monarch in the past has been a great place to purchase from, but I would stay away from them for a while. I don't know what happened, change in management, ownership, outgrew their capacity, etc., etc., but they have been really poor lately.

I recently purchased an OCZ 700Watt Gamestream Powersupply from them. Great price, I have to admit, best I could find even, so I decided to give them a chance even after the other posts in here about their site going "south"... Well, it was a fiasco. I can legitimately see their point of view for part of the problem (for whatever reason, when they tried to send me an email, a bounce would get back to them even though I received the email... doesn't make a lot of sense unless either my email carrier was specifically bouncing their IP range, but also still allowing the email to go through or their email system was doing something itself, or it was a bunch of crap...)

Anyway it took about 6 emails back and forth to them with me replying to emails that I received from them stating the fact that I was getting their emails (how else could I reply to them?), and that it really was my email address. Long story short, what should have been fixed in a 20 second phone call had to be done by email for some reason, as I was specifically told that this issue had to be resolved over email, which doesn't make any sense since the whole problem was that EMAIL DIDN'T WORK, so how could we fix a problem with email USING email?

Anyway, about 2 weeks of working on that problem, the power supply ships out. I open up the box and the OCZ power supply itself is bubble wrapped in a FedEx box. I mean the actual power supply, no original OCZ box, no UPC seal, no manual, no power cord, just the power supply. It was basically an "open box" item. No where on the site was this stated, or in any description of the item. Now I know that monarch does supply testing of items like doing the 24 hour burn-in on a motherboard/CPU combo, and such, but no where was this mentioned that they would do this to the power supply.

I don't know anymore, maybe they simply tested the supply to see that it was in working order before shipping out, but you would think they would place it back in the original box with all its parts. Heck, I don't really care about the power cord, I have about 50 of them laying around. I DO care about not having the UPC code and manual, since those are the proof of purchase things used for warrentys and rebates (if any apply).

So that was my most recent experience, and it just happened during the month of October. Go look at their reseller ratings for the last 6 months, they have seriously gone down a LOT. Again, I don't know what happened to them. They use to be one of my favorite sites to use and recommend. I think I sent about 20 or 30 people their way for bare-bones and full custom PC builds (these are people who didn't like to actually build it themselves, but still wanted to be able to select exactly each and every part in the system).

Sorry if this is a thread hijack, but I think it needs to be stated.

I actually second this completely. I just paid my extra $50 @ zzf because of appalling service and damaged goods in a recent combo mobo/core2duo order.

Nowadays, only Monarch can take 2 weeks for an in stock item to arrive under 2 day Fedex. Strangely enough it was the very same PSU, although mine came still in the original packaging.

I ordered 2 sets of ddr2 ram from monarch 2 weeks ago, 2 seperate orders on the same day.
Both sets of ram arrived in 3 days sealed in the original retail box.

patriot value PC5300 667mhz 2x 1gb kit that does 960mhz at 2.1 volts
mushkin VM pc4200 cas3,2,2,8 2 x 512mb 533mhz that does over 800mhz with 2.1volts

patriot was $171.00 shipped, and the Mushkin was $71.00 shipped

It was a excellent price so i jumped even though i read alot of bad reviews about monarch, I have odered from them many times and everything has always been perfect, I guess i got lucky.

by the way both sets of ram sold out in a few hours on there site.

same here. i'll never order from monarch again, even when it means paying a bit more.

Seems to be hit or miss with Monarch. I've ordered from them several times in the past and have never had a problem...most recently was the 700w OCZ Gamestream PSU a few weeks ago. It came shipped on time in its original packaging and everything was included.

I've placed 3 orders with Monarch, 2 had an incorrect item ship to me, and the 3rd took 2 weeks to ship an "in-stock" item, with no notification whatsoever of a delay.

That company doesn't deserve anyone's money.

Almost bought there today but I got scared off by their NETrep after researching. Deals are awfull tempting tho... might just risk a little $ anyway. Who knows, maybe they are on their way back(?).

Anyway, even given the info I know it's still hard to decide if you can trust a vendor. One thing I found which might help you decide and that I hadn't seen elsewhere is their BBB report as of 11/13/06. Here's the link

http://www.atlanta.bbb.org/commonreport...lanta&compid=4000343&language=&code=GC

I tried it. Paste in the address and type their security image, got me to their BBB page.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the BBB count is up 1 since this morning.

Brainwashing at its finest.
The scary part is that you did that voluntarily. LOL

There's a lot more truth than 'brainwashing', you are the only one showing signs of brainwashing vadp. Take it to P&N forum.

I am not buying any DX10 cards because early adopters always get bitten in the butt. And by the time DX10 games arrive, this card will be almost too slow to run them. Second generation will have more processing power, (probably) a lower price, and have lower PSU requirements.
