Today everything started to hit the fan, was playing a fun game and boom, video drivers stopped working. HAve tried uninstallin and installing different video drivers but nothing appears to be working. I still get the blue screen of death. THe following is the problem signature.

This is with an EVGA 880gts vista 64 bit, 4 gig ram. e8400, w/ gigabyt GA ep35-ds39
Anything else I should try? Currently I am performing a memory test. Thanks in advance!

The game I play most is world of warcraft, but I tried other games, like flatout and it still crashes.

I have read about people having issues with 8800's and vista 64, but have not found anyplace where it says how to fix the thing. I have had issues in the past where the "display driver" stopped working and I fixed this by rolling back to an older driver, however this time it doesn't seem to help the problem.

** edit One thing I Have noticed is that the BCCode, is not always the same, I Have seen 116 as well as 50.

Thanks!

Is it possible that my ol' 8800 gts is just starting to die?

I don't know if it means anything but this time it locked up while trying to find a solution on the net. with a total different code.

I'm beggingin to think it may be the card itself, or at least a heat issue. The card is EXTREMELY warm to the touch. The fan is running, i've cleaned it out, ect and not much dirt was in it.

I've tried the omega drives and others, still the problem persists. NExt step for me is to get the ntune up and running and see if I Can turn the fan up and the speed down (even though it isn't overclocked)

Uninstall your drivers, boot into safe mode, use driver sweeper, reboot and reinstall drivers again.

This. Also try taking the side of your case off and blowing a house fan into it.

G80 or G92 GTS?

Use RivaTuner to increase your fanspeed if it's hitting 80C or higher during gaming.

I had persistent BSOD (vista 64) quite a bit either during game or browsing in the net about two months ago.
I then ran Orthos test which gave me a lead. It failed after one round or two of mixed cpd/ram test.
This led me to run memtest86 which failed 2 sticks out of 4 (1gb each).
Pulled the 2 bad sticks out everything ran fine afterward.
The bad memory sticks were made by Crucial Tech (I'd never buy memory from them any more considering what happened after a year of less than frequent usage).
I'm not suggesting you may have the same issue but at least it's worth a try.

Yep, grab RT or EVGA Precision and check your temps. Easiest to monitor on a 2nd monitor if your crashes lock your system. 80C is typically fine, but the newer drivers changed the heat threshold from 100C to 85C.

Same, the two times I had these TDR errors, the culprit was bad RAM. Crucial Ballistix as well, back when their D9s were all the rage. I'll still buy Crucial because their RMA service is excellent, but I'll also do more research as well to make sure their current modules are't suffering similarly.

Here's where I am. I did the unintstall, reboot into safe mode, use clean sweep, go back and install drivers and it didnt work.

Got disgusted so I let memtest run all night last night (8 hours) and everything passed.

Decided I would try to install new drivers again this morning and I did, and everything is working fine atm. I'm getting the temp monitors so I can see where everything is at. The video card did feel extremely warm to me. Thanks for all the replies I'm going to keep watching temps ect....

Really can't explain that I did anything different from last night. Does memtest wipe the memory? That could be the only possible explanation for why things worked this morning and not last night.

I have been having the same problems with my setup for the past week or so. (Vista 64 with an EVGA 8800GTS 320)
The issue just kinda popped up out of nowhere. My system had been running fine for about 4 months. I have used the 180's and 181's with no luck. I am using the 179 series drivers from the EVGA page right now. That helped a little bit with some games, but not with others. Fallout 3 will crash within 5 minutes no matter what I do in the game. I did get Deus Ex 2 to run for about an hour today before it crashed.
Games that have crashed: Oblivion, UT2K4, Deus Ex 1 and 2, Fallout 3.

I use the EVGA precision tool to monitor my temps on my G15 keyboard screen. My temps have never went above 65C. The clocks on my card are all stock.

I have seen so many different suggested solutions for this problem. Everything from memtest to reformat.

To your question about memtest wiping the memory, your memory will be cleared everytime your machine is rebooted. Memtest puts your memory to work and looks for errors. If you do not see errors it is more than likely that your memory is not the culprit in this situation.

well I made it a day with no problems. It started acting up.

Was monitor temp and it was sitting at 64C when it happened. I'm tired of this crap and will be ordering a new video card tonight. I to have seen so many suggestions but it is really just hit and miss.

In my way of thinking if it was some other problem, then when I remove the drivers for the video card the problem would still be preset. As it is, when there is nothing but default drivers. I dunno.. this is just agrivating as all get out.

I'd been having TDR issues for quite some time and didn't realize what it was. At first I thought I was getting the video corruption issue I've read so much about but after a few bios updates the problem remained. Putting the system in SLI mode seemed to make the problem worse.

For some reason though I wasn't getting the actual message that the display driver had stopped and been restarted all the time.

Last week I installed Windows 7 RC 64-bit and of course the problem persisted. I'd tried everything. Rivatuner with fans on full, switching video cards, updating drivers, re-installing drivers etc. I'd get random TDRs and Crysis would crash on me if I was playing when it happened.

Then I read your post and the one after it and thought hmm it's a new system but let me test it anyway. It wasn't even 10 minutes before it told me I had errors. So I went through a series of tests to narrow it down. Then I went out and bought 4 gigs of Corsair memory. I should have gone with them from the start but I was building this system and that A-Data memory was at a nice affordable price. Heh never again.

With the new memory in all my TDR issues have gone away. I ran Crysis with High settings (Which causes it to use more memory) and played for hours. Gonna play some more in a bit here too.

Then just to make sure I ran Memtest and left it over night. No errors found ad it made at least 3 full passes of 6 gigs of memory.

So anyone who is experiencing TDRs run memtest. Run it for a while because during my testing I tested each stick individually and it actually ran though several times with no errors but as soon as one ran and got errors it was out. Definitely let it run for hours because a bad memory stick doesn't mean it's bad all the time just unreliable which is why pinning it down is so frustrating.
