8800 GTX GPU and Ram oc'd now time for the shaders.

Googled a little bit but couldn't come up with anything. Anyways my BFG 8800 GTX is overclocked to 640mhz(GPU)/2080mhz(RAM), want to over clock the shaders, but right now I don't have the time to do the research working 12-14 hour days atm. If anyone can provide any help and if they've done it themselves how it turned out. Thanks in advance.

hmm really? i remember reading somewhere than you needed to flash the card to do it... i just couldn't find it again =)

I think the BIOS edit is so people can lower the default shader clocks.

bfdd, open RivaTuner's monitor to check speeds of core clock, memory, & shader clock.

That's what I thought. I've read in a couple of different places that for some, the shader clocks get too high and cause the GPU to become unstable before the actual "max" for the core clock is reached.

People edit the BIOS to lower the default shader clocks so that they can get the core clock higher while keeping the shader clocks within tolerable levels.

Yeah, it's why mine can't do over 621 i think. (Rivatuner does huge jumps for OCing everything)

And i'm not touching the bios, so 621 it is...

$0100000101 Core clock domain 1 : 1512.000MHz
$0100000006 Memory clock : 1044.000MHz (2088.000MHz effective)

the Core clock domain 1 is the shaders? If so yay for that =)

I wish my memory did 1044.

n7 try 634 and see if it's stable for ya.

I got the memory higher up to 1053, but I can't get the GPU to read above 648mhz even though ATITool let me set it at 655 no artifacts, but when I check rivatuner it shows it then I do the report and still shows 648...

Yeah it won't change until you hit the next "step". Keep going up and checking what the core clock is actually set as.

So hows about switching cards? Mine has a fancy "EVGA" sticker on it and everything.....

ATITool is showing 54C at idle atm, it shooots to about 70-71C when I'm pushing it.

Thanks a lot that really helps, I can't get much more out of it I can probably get 660-665 I've tried and just didn't feel right, anymore the card usually craps out and i have to shut the system down.

This explains why I'm capping at 630 core on my GTS. I start getting artifacting at 635 which never seemed like a big jump to me but the actual increase is 621 to 648, yikes! Nothing we can do about this eh? In any case thanks for the chart.

RivaTuner will show you the actual speed your card is at, & yes, it's more than likely what's happening.
