All these retail stores jacking up the price above retail, its borderline price fixing going on. At some point I wouldn't be surprised to see them sued.

I would take a 3870 any day over this card. In fact I prefer it over the 8800gt just for the features it has.

Lower performance isn't much of a feature. Neither is DX10.1 support. With that said I still wouldn't get the 256mb version till it hits closer to $149 rather than $199. I would actually get the 3870.

It did provde some info on the supply of the new 8800's being manufactured. According to that website, all the supply issues should be ironed out by the end of Dec. 2007.

Note that the memory is not only half the size, but also a lot slower, only 1400Mhz (700 DDR).

There is a slightly better one with 1600MHz memory for a little more.

They use GDDR3 instead of GDDR4.

512MB 8800GT is losing to 3870 by 16 fps in Bioshock 1680x1050, losing to 256MB 8800GT by 24 fps. Hell it's performing same as the 320mb GTS....
