I personally found Billy's original levels challenging but fun, and I particularly liked pulling off kills in situations the game was clearly designed to prevent.

But I would agree that the Reverend?s gun-fighting sections were more fun.

you are probably right .. but i am one of those suckers that paid full price for it right away because i "had to have" a DX10 game

at least i was able to play it right away on my 2900xt - UNlike Lost Planet [which i also paid full price for ] that only now plays pretty good on my rig > It ran great on a GTX or even GTS right away but i didn't care much for it ... it turned into a Mech Game .. and uninspired at that, i thought .. i never finished it either and now i have about 15 brand new games to play and it also looks as though i will only be benchmarking ANY of them until May when i can get back to playing PC games [i hope]

it's all good

It also plays right because the ATi latest drivers improved Lost Planet performance considerably, up to 33% depending of the configuration.

i thought i made it clear - LP was nearly unplayable on my 2900xt when it first came out - and for months after [nevermind i didn't like it muck].

About Cat 8.1 or 8.1 AMD made significant improvment in LP and my Crossfire rig can handle it pretty well - maybe like an 8800GTX or a bit faster.

But i doubt that NVIDIA will ever be able to similarly "fix" performance for CoJ .. not with g80/g92

The good thing is that the performance boost was accross other videocards like the X1K series which didn't have the issues that the HD series got in Lost Planet.

i didn't know that at all .. i don't keep up with older series

i do "reserve" my games that don't play well with my AMD rig .. and i check back occasionally with new drivers as they are released to see if their is any improvement .. of the newer games i play, LP probably got the biggest gains ... since Stalker. BioShock got a decent fix the very first week it was out and i even got a decent WS FoV hack. NWN2 still seems a bit 'off' [unlike the Witcher] but it might be the game engine as i haven't tried it yet with a nvidia card.

The other game that was crap in DX10 and is now excellent is Hellgate: London although it always ran OK in DX9c.

Right, I'm all patched up.

It should be interesting when I next replay the game.
