I already submitted a Step Up request hoping that they will process it, but I called customer service also and asked the customer service rep if they would allow it and he said no. Is there anyone specific person that I should be talking to?

There is no one specific, really. If you miss it by a day or two they might give you a grace period if you give them some logical excuse (like your internet was out, the site was down for you, were in the hospital, or something).

However, by a week, they won't. ;P

EDIT: It just means you are a dreaded victim of a conspiracy set in place by the corporate world.

For instance, I went to order a BenQ FP241W monday, but they were out of stock. (Was looking Sunday and decided to pull the trigger). After I ordered it, they dropped the price by $10. Not much, but still I got hit by the conspiracy as well.

Anybody notice that during the day, the EVGA card has gone from 650/1625 MHz to 670/1674 MHz both on Egg and EVGA websites (still listed as 650 elsewhere such as zipzoomfly, mwave, tigerdirect, )? Certainly not earth-shattering, but somewhat interesting. The predominance of stock-clocked and few even announced factory OC cards is somewhat intriguing. Is everyone working on a non-reference design, or is this just going to be an orphan card bridging to the next round?

EVGA's strategy has always been to release the vanilla card first, then the OC'd models.

Someone made a reference recently to Pavlov's Dogs. Add the Skinner Box to the list...

You'd be hard pressed to find a vanilla card that won't OC to what you're going to see come out. Marketing..

OT I guess, but how do you overclock video cards? By loading a modded BIOS or is it a program you have to run every time you run Windows?

More like a complimentary pair of boxes. Mfr tosses product in our box and tries to characterize our behavior based on how we express interest. On the other hand, we examine products from mfr's box, compare to past behavior, and try to predict what they really have to offer and when.

OK, my analogical skills are shot for the day, but the basic idea is in there somewhere.

I wish nvidia had increased the core speed to 750Mhz , memory to 2.4Ghz+ , 512Bit. Than it would be worth $350.

The 8800GTS (G92) 512MB card offers slightly better performance than the GTX at any resolution below 2560x1600. It loses there due to the GTX's raw memory bandwidth.

The GTS (G92) would obviously be a better purchase also due to its price.

You use RivaTuner, a VERY NICE little program that you launch every time Windows starts.

I just received my EVGA 8800 GTS 512 and it appears to be clocked at 669 CPU 1944 Mem stock according to n-Tune. When I ordered it, newegg.com said 650 core.. It also came with Crysis.

I went eVGA, and I've got 18 days left so I'm stepping up the 512. Ironically this is a drop from a $395 card to a $355 card (and costing me around $20 in shipping) so I still got a little burned. On the other hand, I've enjoyed the card I have for 72 days now and for just $20 am getting the boost, so I'm just happy it came out in time.

I'm be sad I didn't wait longer when/if the 9xxx cards come out in Feb and there won't be an upgrade for me, but until then I'm going to keep feeling like I dodged a bullet.

i also got a EVGA 8800 GTS 640 couple months ago. So this G92 card is better than the one I have, even with less memory?

edit: damn. im over the 90 day period. ordered mine 9/6/07
