8800gtx artifacting issue

My 8800gtx is mostly artifacting on battlefield 2, with black sploches all over the ground. I'm also getting alot of shinny artifacting on the guns and other metal objects.

I found one object in 2142 that isnt rendering right. Looks all glassy and the texture UV coordinates appear to be messed up.

I used to have a 1900XT that did that, for some reason all the sandbags looked like they were made of glass, all shiny and reflective. Only in BF 2 though. Probably just a bug with drivers or game.

I wouldn?t be worried unless it's doing it in another game, wait for new drivers or game patch.

I had some black splotches in bf2/sf and the 97.02 drivers took care of that. Still have some weird "pink textured areas" in DOD:S so hopefully Nvidia keeps the drivers coming...

yeah, drak messiah had a shinny texture in one lvl i was playing but only one. So i'm not frwaking out about it. But i'll wait for new drivers and see. I called evga tech support but where the card is so new they knew little more than the length of the card.(11inches lol)

heh- yea what's up with those sandbags. Happens every so often/random levels. Does it with G80 sometimes too so I take it it's a game thing.

I get the shinny textures on battle filed 2412 too, I just got the game and it doesn't happen on the gun like before, but around the water when i'm up high in the air or on windows. Do you think its just a battlefiled issue, is anyone else having these kind of texture problems.

This is definitely a battlefield only thing. My X800 did that and now my X1800 sometimes does that... that being the shiny surfaces. Sometimes the gazebos in the china maps would turn black and white. Then at times the roads would have triangle patterns all over.

Shiny Sandbags are game problem, ive seen it too

it like warps when you move around too wierdly

I am so glad someone else is seeing that. I get it on my 1800XT and have yet to find someone else with the same issue.

It happens to me very often, my guns will go gray and shiny, then sometimes the ground or bushes or even helicopter blades will go black, then when you try to use iron sights on the guns the screen will go black. Very annoying.

I usually go reinstall patch 1.41, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe someday drivers will fix it but I know EA doesn't plan to release any more patches.

EDIT: I just read on another forum that turning off 'texture clamp' when using a 8800GTX should fix this in BF2.

So, it's probably a Battlefield 2/2142 issue and not G80-specific?

This means it's just the Source-Engine Games and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent having issues?

As far as turning off the texture clamp,do u mean on the global settings.

I guess so, I read that on some random forum after doing a google search, people said that turning it off fixed the issue for them. I've had ATI cards pretty much my whole gaming life so I don't know where you would find the option for it in Nvidia's control panel or whatever they use.
