I have the non-x ones and have a CM 212+ installed on a MSI z68a-gd65 and cannot use last memory slot unless I slide fan up some (about 3 mm) and the non-x omes appears to shorting heatsink than the x ones..

Thanks for the info! that was exactly what I was looking for! I guess i'll wait until other gskill goes on sale (always have had good luck with gskill). I was looking at the CM 212+ evo or something. I just want to ensure I have no problems.

Either of these kits will work just fine with an AMD system, correct? I ordered a couple of sets of the "Intel XMP-certified" memory from the original post's link, but am upgrading an AMD system.

It should be. This is what is listed in the details section.

Features
Designed for 2nd Generation Intel Core Processors and the Z68 & P67 motherboards

Optimized 1.5V low voltage for the Intel Sandy Bridge platforms

Compatible with Intel P55 & AMD Phenom II/Llano platforms

Intel XMP certified

Also had this note on the gskill product page.

***Strongly recommendation: For AMD platform, please follow the voltage/timing as specification to stabilize your system instead of select AUTO/Default

What's the real difference between X and non-X? I have non-X 2x2Gb now and I'm going to order one of these sets..

Edit: I'm going to just get the non-X version, I think - other than the size, it matches exactly to what I have already.

It should be...

Thanks (and greetings!), Lanyap. I read that after posting my question. A few of the reviews at NewEgg are for AMD-powered systems, too, so I should be in good shape.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I'm wondering about the difference too

Edit: I read that the X version works fine in the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 mobo and thats the one I'm ordering so my choice is made. Ordering 2 sets.

WOW! 16GB RAM for $60! I don't even have a DDR3 board yet and I bought some for the future.

Not sure why people saying it's sold out, I just completed my order 1 minutes ago.

I keep trying to resist urges to upgrade from my 4 GB I have now. I don't need more than 4, do I...>??? >.<

I gave in. Couldn't help it! I'll throw the 2x2GB 1333 stuff I have now in some other random box at some point.

remember: ram speed isn't the world, but running out of ram is (swap).

I'd take 144GB @ 800mhz over 72GB @ 1333 all day long because the minute i start swapping (ESXi) my 1333 feels like 100mhz.

Anyone seen any deals for DDR2 2GB? man its $80 for 8GB!! (4x2gb) all components/avant - stock voltage.

Besides video editing. What the heck are you doing that will gobble (get it?) up 8gigs of ram? 1 gig going to the operating system of course.

Memory leaks!

As much as it sounds like I'm kidding, I'm tempted to use it after I've hit 95% memory use quite a few times. Supposedly, my leak has something to do with the AMD Radeon drivers not reacting well with Splashtop. About half the time when I remote into my desktop, it drops down to the Windows 7 Basic skin. :|

Snagged 2 sets I don't need simply because 16gb for $59.98 is a hardcore steal.

Many thanks for the heads up, but I fully plan to blame you if the wife catches me!

Wow......i don't even have any need for this!!

...........but i bought 2 kits anyways...16GB for $59? Oh yeah

Got a set, I don't need 16GB but for this price...

all of this. i have 4 gigs...now i have 16

i dont even need it, but this is so stupidly hot i couldnt pass and had to max out my motherboard.

I didn't get this exact deal, but the same amount & price. G.SKILL 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3-10666) Laptop RAM for $29.99 @ Newegg last night.

The link was on this forum last night, one of Newegg's many Black Friday deals. Not bad at all for 8GB RAM, it's also a 5 egg NE rated product.

Interesting enough, I had a set (4X4G) of the X stuff sitting here and wanted to order another set but decided to try out my existing set before ordering. I could not get windows to install at all with the X stuff, went back to the non X and everything was fine. This was in an AsRock Z68 Ext 4 Gen 3 board, I haven't investigated further but plan to.

It's over now, but there was also a deal on Gskill Sniper DDR3-1600 CAS 9 1.5v RAM for $29.99 FS at Newegg as well. I had someone order five sets for me.
