8GB
Horizon Forbidden West 3060 is faster than the 2080 Super despite the former usually competing with the 2070. Also 3060 has a better 1% low than 4060 and 4060Ti 8GB.
Resident Evil Village 3060TI/3070 tanks at 4K and is slower than the 3060/6700XT when ray tracing:
Company Of Heroes 3060 has a higher minimum than the 3070TI:

10GB / 12GB

Reasons why still shipping 8GB since 2014 isn't NV's fault.
  1. It's the player's fault.
  2. It's the reviewer's fault.
  3. It's the developer's fault.
  4. It's AMD's fault.
  5. It's the game's fault.
  6. It's the driver's fault.
  7. It's a system configuration issue.
  8. Wrong settings were tested.
  9. Wrong area was tested.
  10. Wrong games were tested.
  11. 4K is irrelevant.
  12. Texture quality is irrelevant as long as it matches a console's.
  13. Detail levels are irrelevant as long as they match a console's.
  14. There's no reason a game should use more than 8GB, because a random forum user said so.
  15. It's completely acceptable for the more expensive 3070/3070TI/3080 to turn down settings while the cheaper 3060/6700XT has no issue.
  16. It's an anomaly.
  17. It's a console port.
  18. It's a conspiracy against NV.
  19. 8GB cards aren't meant for 4K / 1440p / 1080p / 720p gaming.
  20. It's completely acceptable to disable ray tracing on NV while AMD has no issue.
  21. Polls, hardware market share, and game title count are evidence 8GB is enough, but are totally ignored when they don't suit the ray tracing agenda.
According to some people here, 8GB is neeeevaaaaah NV's fault and objective evidence "doesn't count" because of reasons(tm). If you have others please let me know and I'll add them to the list. Cheers!

I don't know if anything has actually changed specifically with AMD as NVidia drivers have had more overhead for a while now, probably since around the time of Vega. AMD started doing more of the work on the hardware so when CPU limited, they tend to perform better. Maybe AMD has become even more performant in these situations, but this isn't anything earth shattering or some new revelation.

Time for 12GB not enough thread With 4070Ti taking the lead. To be honest, 16GB is a minimum that I would prefer to have today.

Hah, see I'm a genius for trying out an A770! 16GB of ram goodness!

Saw Steve at HUB's video this morning... what 26 cards tested for one section of the game? Crazy man and proof that the prognosticators were correct on 8GB-12GB cards.

Daniel Owen has a couple of good videos testing the game too. He tests a 4090, 3060ti, 7900xtx, 6700xt, 1060 6GB. He thinks in some spots there is a cpu bottleneck.

Overall, the game itself has some odd issues going on and could use optimization. I'm not really a HP fan but I'm tempted to pick up a copy to test.

Yep, 3080TI/4070TI being next on the chopping block demonstrates a lunatic product stack.

But for now, the true legacy of Hogwart is obsoleting the entire Turding line, with the exception of the 2080TI.

"2060 6GB is RTX ready!!!" LMAO.

Hey now, don’t forget the “New for 2022” 2060 12GB 😂

Interesting video.

I do wonder: has anyone tried using this game with the 5800x3D and a high end GPU?

Trying to learn if more cache is beneficial to this game or not: i seem to recall some games having MASSIVE BOOSTS in performance using a 5800x3D instead of ... say ... the 5800x, despite the lower clock frequency of the 3D CPU.

To be sure, you would want 16GB Vram.
The biggest problem is price in my opinion.
Desktop is not as bad as mobile in comparison.

Paying >1900euro for i7 13700H + 16GB DDR5 + 1TB SSD + RTX 4600 8GB which I barely consider as minimum is ridiculous.
Paying 3800euro for the cheapest i9 13900HX + 32GB DDR5 + 1TB SSD + RTX 4900 16GB laptop? WTF.

Building a desktop: 13600KF + 32GB DDR5 + 2TB SSD + ARC A770 16GB would cost 1500 euro and still perform better.
Building a desktop: 7950X/13900 + 64GB DDR5 + 2TB SSD + RTX 4080 /RX 7900 XTX would cost within 3000 euro and perform at least 25-30% better.

N32 with 16GB could be interesting, If the price is right.

Or NVidia figuring out a way to get people to upgrade sooner. They could easily offer more VRAM across their stack, but it would mean that their cards would last a lot longer and people wouldn't buy replacements as often.

I wouldn't be surprised to see future incarnations of DLSS require more than 12 GB of VRAM for reasons.

When it comes to Ada, they can't really. Unless/until 4 GB chips arrive.

Seems like Hogwarts needs a lot of power, I lean more towards:
A) it’s poorly programmed or optimized
B) it’s super future looking kind of like Crisis ways
C) a combination of A&B

Does any site have it in the charts? It will be amazing if it outperforms the 3060ti through 3070ti simply due to all those cards running out of vram with RT on. I suspect it will. However, from what I've seen, I prefer the raster IQ in this game over the RT. The RT shadows look bad, and the reflections are noisy.

I mean, it probably does. It has the “core” of a 2060S and the then same 192 bit bus as the 3060 with similar speeds. Given how close the 2060S was to the 3060 (off hand, like 10%? Pretty much a vanilla 2070 where that is shown) I just mentally put the 2060-12 where the 3060 is shown on most graphs. Clearly it is slower and the 3060 probably has more cache to offset the bandwidth constraints but 🤷‍♂️

Raffster on twitter did post a graph from PCGH showing A770 8GB v 16GB & 2060 6GB v 12GB.

If you find the original article it might show you waht you specifically want.
