8k7a problems solved... Newegg Rocks!

I posted here a few weeks ago after I bought an Epox 8k7a motherboard and an Athlon 1400 from Newegg, and I couldn't get the system to POST. I troubleshot the situation for a full day, tried several power supplies, removing components, reseating cards, etc. and could not get the system to POST. I did not have another Athlon platform handy to swap parts into, so I had no way to determine if it was the motherboard or the CPU that was shot.

Well here's the happy ending! I called Newegg and they agreed to take back both the motherboard and the CPU and send me replacements. No questions asked, no hassle. The replacements were shipped out one day after they received the returned parts. I just assembled my system using the replacement motherboard and CPU that they sent, and it is working beautifully.

I have a hunch that not all discount computer dealers would provide such terrific customer service. This is the kind of customer service that brings customers back - they can definitely count on me being a loyal repeat customer. In fact, I've already ordered a new hard drive.

Lucky you guys... if I ordered from Newegg through Borderfree, if I got DOA componets... well I duno what I could do. (Canadian, and Newegg doesn't ship to Canada unless you use borderfree)

newegg did the same for me last months I had 2 new Iwill boards that where doa a kk226 and ka266-r and newegg no question ask just replace boths board and 1 cpu 1.2 gig for nothing what a place to shop they for sure got me has a customer just wish that they had more selection.

On the flip side, Microbarn is giving me nothing but grief.
After 6 weeks of my own testing and swapping, I narrowed down random lockups and rebooting to my KT7A, swapped the board out with another, and problems gone. Noticed that 12v and 5v readings on motherboard were low, and stayed at same low levels with new AMD approved PS, which convinced me more that the motherboard was bad. After Microbarn failed to respond to their suggested way to get an RMA, (email), and failed to return phone calls to tech support, I was able to call sales, which in turn connected me to tech support for an RMA. A week after I sent them the board, at around 12 noon, they sent me an email that said board was O.K, and that if I didn't respond back to them before 3pm, (within 3 hours), they were going to send the same board back to me. Of course I received this email when I got home from work at 5pm, which was past the 3pm deadline. I emailed them anyway, and no response, and after another week, still no board. Moral is, shop at Newegg next time, and if you get treated bad by a company, let others know about it, so that they will not have to go through the same things. Also, read reviews at resellerratings.com.
