I setup my 8RDA+ and the SPD650 SPDIF panel, so I can use the digital output from the board! When it came to installing everything, I ran into a few complications which I can?t help but figure it would be easy to cure.
Firstly, if you go into the volume controls using conventional methods without using nVidia?s panel, you have the advanced settings where you can set a bass and treble level. Looking at other people?s posts and from my own experience, it seems that these two sliders are greyed out. As my speakers, the Videologic DigiTheatre have no separate bass/treble controls once the SPDIF signal has been sent to them ? the sound is lacking badly in any extra treble and bass making the overall sound very poor when listening to any audio which needs some processing. I know there is the graphical equaliser and the ?LFE Crossover Frequency? in the nForce panel, but I?ve spent the last hour or so trying to change this but without much avail. The sound output is rather poor without any increased bass/treble compared to the SB Live Platinum which I had in my machine previously. So, my first question is whether you can modify the drivers in any way or the Window?s registry to enable this somehow? I had a look at the nvmcp.ini under ?AudioDrv? in the nForce drivers and I noticed a line which has:
;HKR,Settings\Ac97,ToneControls,1,0F,0F ; Bypass Treble and Bass
Not sure whether that has anything to do with it? Anyway if anyone has any suggestions on how to make the sound greater with more bass/treble I?d appreciate it. I don?t know whether there are any software solutions which you could use to amplify the sound ? but something like DFX in Winamp didn?t do enough compared to the bass/treble control using my SB Live
Also, my second problem was in games ? I seem to be experiencing a lot of crackling and static problems like I also had with my SB Live. Splinter Cell was one of the games which caused a lot of problems where the sound would also stutter and make it hard to play. I also experienced similar problems in Flight Simulator 2002.
