Just purchased the following:

Athlon XP 2700+
EPOX EP-8RDA+
Gigabyte Maya II GV-R9700PRO
1 X Corsair XMS 2700 C2, 512Mb (second one on way as I write this)
Adaptec 29160U SCSI Controller Card
Quantum Atlas V 18.4Gb Ultra 160 Hd
Pioneer DV-03 DVD ROM SCSI
420Watt Power Supply in Enermax case
WinXP Home / SP-1

Computer starts up fine, everything works except when I try to run a benchmark or play a game, will run for about 30 seconds then the system freezes and I have to reboot. I have tried everything possible (new drivers, updating bios, etc.) to no avail. The GV-R9700PRO ran fine with my ABIT BF6 MoBo (old system) so I'm sure its not the card. If anyone has had a similar problem I would appreciate any help with this matter.

Not sure if the 8RDA+ has this option available in the BIOS, but can you try to raise the AGP voltage? I have seen similar under volt issues on many NF2 chipset boards.

Thanks for the info, while rumaging through the BIOS I think i saw a setting to raise the AGP voltage, will this damage the card in any way?? I would hate to fry the card or deal with the warranty issues(not an overclocker, yet). Since I am at work right now I can't check the voltage, I will check later but I think it's default at 1.5V and can go to 1.7V and more. I will try it tonight and if it works you just saved me a lot of time and aggravation. Thnx again.

Is it a good-quality 420W power supply or a cheapie?

Its an Enermax power supply, there is a label on the power supply that says it is bult to handle the Pentium 4. I am not aware if this has any bearing or what the different voltage requirements are but I should not be drawing that much juice especially since I am using the onboard audio and NIC, I only have the SCSI on the PCI, nothing else. Do you think I should switch power supplies?

I would switch to a antec true power 480 w or ttgi 475watts. Those 9700 need juice and so does the epox. What are your voltages like,

Last time I checked I believe they were minutely fluctuating about .05 to .10 of the needed figure, ie 4.91 instead of 5. None of the voltages were over the recomended figures. Does this sound normal, my old power supply was 300 Watt, No Name and had always provided a bit over the required juice.
