Sunny, what is your name in the stats ? My new 780 is kicking butt. And I have a dual E5570 that will up this by 100k more when I finally get something other than an 8101. Use to only get 1 of 3 of those, but the last 4 or 5 have ll been 8101. Total PPD now ranks from 580 to 700k ppd.
my 2 7970s are crunching for Plimogz, so that's approx. 185K PPD plus whatever else he's throwing at the project on any given day. we seem to have been 2nd in production for the Thinkers for the last few days, but we just can't catch you even with your recent setbacks...

What happened to RaySun2Be (close enough)? I used to see him around here a lot.
Good point, I can't remember properly now :$, I think he posted a few years ago so saying what he'd been upto, but I can't recall what. You might find a post by him in the 'old farts' thread from this year (or last?), worth searching for that 1.

ok guys, now that the race is over, i'm trying to figure out how to stop folding gracefully (without having to cancel running tasks)...i'm assuming that right clicking on each of the slots available in the "Folding slots" window of the FAHControl box and choosing "finish" will cause any tasks currently running in those slots to crunch to completion and prevent any new tasks from being downloaded and started in those slots?

TIA,
Eric

That is correct, hitting finish on each slot will finish the current WU to completion and then pause.

Great race and happy new year to everyone.

Thanks for organizing and keeping us informed Petrusbroder, and thanks Biodoc for stepping in and taking us the rest of the way to the finish!

Thanks for the stats and for you stepping in, biodoc! Your efforts are - as you see above - very much appreciated!

To all racers: thanks for a great race! We have broken many milestones: among others the number of points produced in a race (106 millions).
As usually, the difference between the racing teams (for the total race) was less than 2%. That I like, because close races do encourage the optimizing of computers, software switches, etc. Well done all!

Thanks for organizing a great race! I'm thinking next year I'll have to get a better GPU (or two!) to keep up. But I think I may wait for one that can be described this way:

Thanks to Peter and biodoc for the stats ! Thanks to all who made this fun !

Just one observation, for the first time, what units Stanford releases (the lack of ZETA for many) can sway the points a lot ! Like for me over 280k PPD, and I am sure others were affected. This makes for a very unstable points base, and made things interesting for a different reason this year.

Thx to Biodoc & Petrus for the race & the stats

Damn, we only tied with The Scientists

Now the race is over I'll stop F@H on my 2nd rig & I'm going to crunch to 7mill, then it's back to Asteroids@home on my main rig too.

Btw thx to Sunny for saying how to stop the client getting new WUs , google turned up nothing earlier!
[edit] I spoke too soon, there is no right click menu on the slot, how did you get that? Left clicking shows no 'finish' option.
v7.3.6 in FAHctrl>configure>slots. Win XP

[edit2] Sussed it! I just discovered you meant the folding slot within the main window which I'd hidden previously when shrinking the window!

Unfortunately FAH doesn't remember this in case client is re-started, either accidentally or like in my case due to thunderstorm re-booting computer.

Thanks for the stats to petrusbroder and biodoc

I found that out the hard way. I was wondering why after I selected FINISH the thing downloaded another WU.

weird...you'd think there would be a file either in the FAH program directory or the FAH data directory (similar to a BOINC client's client_state.xml file) to which the FAH client saves its confirguarion upon termination, and causes the client to open to that same configuration the next time it is started up...

...fortunately i did not encounter the problem you mentioned b/c although i terminated FAHControl after finishing my lasts tasks, i left the FAH client running in the system tray.

Thanks Peter and biodoc. This year's race was a lot of fun. I could likely have broken 2mil in one month, had I crunched the requisite 10 WUs before the start of the race, and not had so many problems with the box going down or freezing. (No thanks to ATI's beta drivers either.)
