I've been waiting for Knights of Honor to go on sale for at least a year now. I've heard so many good things about that game, that it is sort of a spiritual successor to Lords of the Realm 2.

Can't wait to play later tonight to see if the hype is true.

Try the demo. It is a fun game, especially if you play with some friends. One of the few games where you kill yourself and you find it funny.

This is what I'd like to know. I've decided I'm going to get it, but should I just get the base game or go for the whole pack?

Vietnam is an expansion and is worth it. If you play multiplayer the other maps are cool. The items are ok, but aren't all that great overall. I own almost all of the pack and would suggest if you played the demo and liked the game to just get the pack then if you plan to do some multiplayer. If you don't plan to do any multi id just get the main game and vietnam

I dont know whether or not I like Mount & Blade Warband or think this is the biggest waste of time I ever spent money on. If you didnt spend your time going from place to place looking for people to kill and quests I think I'd love it. As it is, I'm just going from one place to another looking for this guy or that guy. Heck, even when you find people to fight you cant catch them half the time! I swear I chased these sea marauders for 10 min, and went all around the map. And they were on foot! And dont even try to catch deserters. Its fun when you actually do things, but sheesh, its so few and far between if feels like I'm wasting my time.

I played M&B back in the beta days, and it was a different beast when it came to the overworld back then. Encounters were easier to find, and you could make a living just roaming around taking on random groups of armies, rogues, etc (considering that was most of the game at that point in time, encounters were frequent ). I got Warband a few months ago, and you almost *need* to be aligned with a particular kingdom and be part of their army. That way you have a reliable quest "supplier" and steadier supply of recruits. You can still manage as a mercenary/bandit without alignment, though it's harder to actually find something to do until you build up your army. I found that if I was making it on my own without a kingdom backing me, it could take 5-15 minutes before I found a group of enemies somewhere around my level and current army size while I was at lower levels.

Maybe I should play the first one then. My character is an Adventurer, and I assumed that meant roaming around and getting into adventures. Instead, I'm getting bogged down with trying to make ends meet so I can feed the troops, but the game makes it hard. I did align with the Nords as mercs, but they haven't given me anything to do. My burn rate far exceeds what I can earn, and now I'm going into debt! I may have to resort to pillage and plunder, but if I wanted to be an ahole in a game I would just play a Rockstar game.
