Just got the Nexus 5x today. Compared to my S6, its a battery champ.
Thought about the Moto X Pure, but I'm not liking how they put one year old phones on the chopping block with updates.
Also the specs are so close. The battery is a bit bigger and but the screen is larger and pushing more pixels. The standard USB connection is a plus at this point, but potentially less of a factor if I ever manage to carry the same phone for two years. The SF card storage would have been really nice though, along with build quality and balances in the hand.
My initial take after 7 hours of owning a Nexus 5x.
-it feels weird. Not bad, but different.
-Screen looks nice, but viewing angles aren't best. I have been spoiled by the S6 the Z3 before that and my work's iPhone 6.
-Battery life on standby is Apple like. Yeah, finally. Well, okay, Sony manages that too. But a Nexus with standby goodness? Yay, a win.
-Android 6 is smooth and right looking. Everything is so nice to look at and interact with.
-vibration motor during typing, ummm, its weird.
-Camera is a performer. I'm loving it so far. Almost rivals the S6 and IP 6.
-I do prefer the placement of the fingerprint sensor over the home button. Except when its sitting on a desk or table.
-LTE speed at work seemed slow. But it might have been doing a crap load of background stuff since I just unboxed it.
Blazing fast at home. I'll see about it tomorrow, but it could be missing a TMO LTE band.
-Some app installs take forever. Perhaps disk encryption going weird.
-Using S6 and IP 6 earbuds, the volume needs to be on the upper end to get loud. Might be an issue on corded headsets with big drivers. Earbuds on my S6 is plenty loud on 50% on the volume scale.
-again, Marshmallow. Its really nice to have a Android reference design at this day and age. I really hope I am content with this phone. Its a good time to like $400-ish phones. Moto X, One Plus 2, even the HTC A9 isn't as bad as the haters wanted to hate it.
