Loving my 6P, except for one thing. The volume of the speakers does not get loud at all. At max volume it's just barely louder than what I would consider "normal" volume levels. Anyone else experience this? Is there a way to increase the phone's volume output?

Yours might have a problem, because every review I have seen says they get really loud.

I'll check out the volume on mine tomorrow. There are usually some tweaks out there to raise the volume, as long as they aren't maxing out the amplifier already there should be a way to raise it up.

Anyone using Project Fi? What's it like overall? Does it constantly switch from WiFi to cell service in an attempt to find the best connection or could you set it to only use the cell radio when you're on the go? If it is the former, how does that affect battery life of the phone?

It seems rather interesting and I could see porting my number from my $30/mo TMobile plan (partly because I find the minute allotment restricting, but not restricting enough to jump up $10-$15/mo for a ATT Prepaid or next level Tmobile plan), especially since I'm thinking of replacing my Nexus 4 with a 5X.

My order is still pending :/ Ordered a 64gb Graphite on 9/29 and expecting 11/10-11/12. Getting antsy since most orders are shipping early already. Can't wait to check it out!

I'm not a fan, the data is too expensive, have you considered a VOIP solution using the $30 plan to expand your voice minutes?

I don't use that much data to begin with (probably 1-2GB/mo tops, and I tend to let apps update over cell just because I have so much available data). I haven't really looked at VoIP solutions, but mainly because they seem rather convoluted to use and get properly integrated. Even with the $0.10/min cost that T-Mobile charges after 100 minutes, I'd have to talk at least another 100 minutes/mo regularly to make it worth jumping to another plan.

I'm mainly just curious as to how this service works, since I may artificially limit my talking just because of the minute cap.

Screw Google, and screw the Nexus 6P. I kicked the proverbial can down the road... I was gonna order one in black, but oh wait... out of stock... Then I went for the white.. out of stock! Silver is in stock, but ships like middle of November! Why should I wait for things when I can help it?! I got only one life after all... Didn't Google know there would be demand for the damned thing? When will this OOS bullshit stop?

Went for the iPhone 6S Plus 128GB instead. Laugh all you want at this poor iSheep, but it's still a better phone in many ways, and will still be worth something descent in 2 years, unlike the Nexus which will depreciate beyond all reason. At least I don't have to wait for the iPhone, I'll get it on Nov 5th. and I don't have to spend $550 on it all at once like in case of the Nexus. I'll be paying a cool $32 every month until the iPhone 7s or the next Nexus comes out and is actually available in stock to buy for a change.

silver 32GB ones have been shipping within a day or two of ordering lately. also the 64GB silvers started shipping pretty reliably.

man i'd rather wait 2 weeks and get the best android phone probably ever. i have an N6 not like I am still holding on to a flip phone so one can make do for a couple weeks.

So here's the thing with fi...

I have T-Mobile right now and my town is very well covered by T-Mobile. I see zero difference in reception between my fi sim and T-mobile one. In my office they are both dead, not even the CDMA punch of Sprint can get through. So I just toss it on airplane mode and use wifi calling to get through with Fi. With T-Mobile I'd flip my phone to "wifi calling" only and call it a day. I'd flip back to cellular preferred when I was leaving.

I don't notice any real switching. I've only found one wifi spot that it autoconnects the phone to. But other than that it's worked well. The Wifi calling/texting reliability is hands down better than T-Mobile. T-Mobile still does some kind of sim card validation and at least have a dozen times a day I'd think it was on wifi calling mode only to find that everything was stuck sending and I wasn't getting anything back to me.

Fi works much, much better than T-Mobile in that regard.

I do miss the unlimited streaming of T-Mobile. I forgot to turn off cellular data on Google music and it ripped through 40 meg of data in a few minutes of time. Doh. Certainly a step back knowing that there is a dollar cost to every bit of data. It's not as oppressive as Verizon overage charges, but it's certainly a bit more restrictive feeling than the unlimited hose of bandwith T-Mobile will give me.

My biggest problem is that I live in a cellular dead zone. I still need to get calls and texts through. I tried T-Mobile and just found their wifi calling spotty. There's an extra handshake or something in there that leaves the phones flaky.

With fi once you go on wifi you are golden. No hiccups that I've found. I've also never watched it flip signals nor really gave it much mind. If it's on wifi, it will try and call/text over that instead.

Plan on using a gig of data month. Just in little stuff like google searches, email, navigation, ect it all adds up. So just bank on it costing you $30 a month for very good wifi calling and fairly fast mobile data when you need it.

Been using it for a little over a week now. I'm in an area that's heavily in favor of Verizon for the best cell service, but Fi has been surprisingly good. T-mobile is barely in my area for data, but Sprint had apparently gotten a lot better than I remember from 1-2 years ago. It often says I have LTE data available and I show good coverage for calls.

I've only noticed it switching a few times. My battery life has been great on my 5X to this point, so it hasn't been negatively affecting me in any way that I can tell. I think it only attempts to use wifi for calls/texts when there's no cellular service it can detect, or it's too spotty and there's better wifi. That's been a nice boon for me actually, as, for example, our server room at work is a dead zone for cellular, but does have wifi. There's also a few other dead zones at work with wifi coverage, so now I actually have better coverage indoors (though at a place I spend too much of my time).

Plenty of time for things to go south, but Fi gets a thumbs up from me so far. But, I am going to consistently nag them in their feedback app about data prices. I'll personally be saving money by not using data, like $25-30 a month compared to what I was paying Verizon, but they've got to price data better than they currently are. $10 per GB is a joke, and is turning away a lot of people. They're supposed to be saving us from crappy, overpriced cell service, so there's a way to go yet on that front.

Didn't realize the 6P was offered in a 128gig variety. I plan on using my Note 4 until something awful happens to it, but it's nice to know that I have a valid option.

Yeah, $10/GB is a bit high, but considering what other plans cost - 1.5-2GB with unlimited calling/texting from TMobile is ~$40-$45/mo prepaid, same for AT&T.

But that's good to hear about the battery life. I'll probably end up buying a 5x and getting a new nano-SIM from TMobile; basically see how a new phone would work with my current cell-service before deciding on whether I want to or need to jump ship. It is nice to hear about the alternatives though and how they stack up against the status-quo.

I got my 6p today, still installing stuff but so far it's great, feels a lot more responsive than my note 4. Only annoying thing so far is that the screen protector I got doesn't seem to work with my case, it's a little too big so the edges get pushed up. Not sure if I should try a different case or a different screen protector, what are other people using?

Would be nice to hear about your comparison. I think I will be keeping my 6 even after my next upgrade because it works in all carriers so I can use it as a backup phone. I could sell it too now since its a brand new replacement from moto and get a 6p but I don't feel like it would be a substantial upgrade for me.
