Is anyone disappointed by the USB Type-C port/connector? It is not a deal breaker but it is not what I expected, either. I was hoping for somewhat smoother operation. As it is, the insertion/ejection is rather "scratchy" and rough. I am curious whether it is just the 5X or the 6P has the same "receptacle."

One benefit of that roughness/tightness is that the phone dangles on instead of sliding off when the cable is pulled up. Though I do not know if that is an intended effect.

frost color seems to have the longest delays. check the very detailed and lengthy thread at androidcentral.com

Yeah I have been watching that thread. Many other people have gotten the same config I ordered and have already received their phones. My project fi simcard has already shipped at least.

Other than the annoyance of spending another $30 in cables I dig USB C. My cables seen fine. They do have a defined click point, but I appreciate the feedback that it's in place. Also love that I can plug the phone in without looking at cord orientation. That's nice.

My 6P arrived today, a week ahead of schedule (originally 11/10-12). I wouldn't have known about it without people here pointing out that their phones had started shipping early. For some reason I didn't get a confirmation of my order or anything related to shipping so I've been keeping tabs on the Google Store website.

All versions are in stock except white 64GB. They really want to charge more for white version.

I'm definitely liking the USB C cables more than micro USB, it does take a little more force to plug in/remove but I think my micro-usb cables were like that when I first got them as well. The insertion length is a bit longer though and it feels way sturdier when plugged in. Also, the charger I was using at work (an old HTC) charger charges my 6P a lot faster than with the micro-USB and my note 4. That may just be that the USB-C cable is higher guage for charging, or maybe it's something with the charging for USB-C being more standard than the proprietary quick charge. It actually says charging rapidly with this charger, so that's a pretty nice little surprise there.

Some other thoughts on the 6P in general, this phone has amazing signal strength, totally blows away any phone I've used. At work I usually get terrible reception on ATT LTE, but I'm getting a full signal bar with the 6P. I'm going to do some speed tests at home vs my note 4 tonight but downloading apps over WiFi seemed to be a lot faster as well on the 6P.

The white color looks really nice, an the camera hump actually looks pretty nice in person, really sets it apart from other phones and it contrasts nicely with the white. The plastic band at the bottom of the phone doesn't match the white back exactly but it's pretty close, it almost looks a little silver when you look up close. Anyway it's not bad and doesn't really detract from the overall look.

So far the fingerprint sensor has been great, really fast and really accurate, I've only had one misread so far and that was when I tapped it with the tip of my finger, but I bet if I set up that finger again and used the tip of my finger during the setup it would read it.

I haven't gotten a chance to use the camera much yet, I was playing with it a little last night in very dim light and it turned out some nice photos. HDR+ seems to help a lot in low light shots, without it the photos seemed a bit noisier. Comparing it to my note 4 it seemed to produce a little more natural tones to me, especially with skin tones. Hopefully I can try some shots today with more light to see how it handles it. The biggest problem with the camera so far is the exposure imo, the Google app is using center weighted exposure which can really throw off some shots if the background has any lights or is just brighter. I want to play around with it more but to me it seems like an app that's supposed to be very automatic like the google camera app should be doing a multi point exposure to try to balance the focus point and background more.

In general the performance is great, everything is much smoother than my note 4 and the annoying hangs that happen sometimes on the Note 4 seem to be gone (such as opening the multitasking screen and the camera). Also everything seems to set to a higher DPI which makes the screen feel bigger. The camera performance in general seems quite good, if you're doing HDR shots the processing takes a little while, but it does it in the background so you can keep snapping shots while it's doing that. If you aren't using HDR it's very very fast and I didn't notice any time to process after the shot.

Battery life I can't comment on too much so far yet, I got it at 50% yesterday and it lasted me for most of the night while downloading stuff and playing around a lot, I left it off the charger at night and I think it lost 1% so doze definitely seems to be doing it's job.

Last thing for now, the speakers seemed plenty loud to me when I fired up some games last night, I haven't taken any phone calls so I can't speak for speaker phone volume but I'm quite happy with the volume so far.

Great mini-review there, VashHT. Keep them coming! I think the white 6P looks the best to me personally. I am also impressed by the 5X's camera which is supposedly the same as the one you have in the 6P.

How is the paint job done on white? Do you think it will get dirty easily or turn off-white over time?

Sorry if someone already covered it but how is the GPS? Is it fast and accurate? GPS is something I use all the time for work.

yes and its just as blown out of proportion as bendgate was, if you wanna break a phone chances are your gonna be able to break it

Exactly. If someone is willing to give me their 6S I bet I could break it in half too. Just depends how hard someone wants to bend it. iPhone "bendgate" was a joke and so is this.

This is a new video. No cuts or anything. Just fresh out of the box.

It's basically bendgate for Android. As long as you don't abuse the phone or sit on it, it's not gonna bend but perhaps Huawei will switch to 7000 series aluminum in the next model.

http://www.theverge.com/2015/11/3/9666428/nexus-6p-bend-test-part-2

The Verge's headline for that article has it exactly right: The Nexus 6P will snap in half if you try to snap it in half. Because things bend.

It actually feels like a high quality hard plastic coating(think something like the lumia 900), not sure if it's anodized or painted tbh. So far it doesn't attract any fingerprints or dirt at all so hopefully that's a sign it'll last.

After reset, 2~3 seconds for 20 feet accuracy outdoors. Then another second or two for 10 feet accuracy.

I thought the whole iPhone 6+ bending thing was first discovered by accident, not people bending it on purpose. After that it was blown out of proportion, but I also don't think it's something that should just be ignored. Everything I read about the 6P though indicates it was only found during bending tests, not by actual users who found their phone just bent one day.

Is there a way to tell if doze is active, or was for a period of time? Last night it definitely did not seem to turn on, phone lost about 5% as opposed to around 1% the night before. I'm wondering if an app was preventing it, I had a lot of stuff running from playing around with my phone all night. In particular Hulu would not turn off no matter what I did, the notification for it persists even if you kill the app from the multitasking menu. Does anyone know how to quit hulu without restarting your phone?

If it was blown out of proportion, Apple wouldn't have bothered spending the R&D and money on strengthening the 6S, which also made it heavier. Gotta be a reason why they did that.

From what I've read today, if you actively try to bend the 6P, it can bend. I try my best not to bend my phones on purpose. It's tough to resist, but I am doing my best.

The usual thing to do when an app seems 'stuck' is to go to 'manage application', find the offending app, and 'force stop' it. That would completely quit it without having to restart the phone.

If you go into application settings, you should be able to "force stop" any running application

I'll try that next time I use it but I think I may have tried that with no luck, it's really annoying that you can't quit the app or that the notification doesn't go away when you stop watching a show, lazy programming on Hulu's part.

it was, someone prob sat on their phone, the ip6 used pretty weak aluminum and it didn't have any support/strengthening on the shell, it was literally just a flat curved the shell the rest of the stuff was pressfit into

the 6s moved to a stronger aluminum and they added some strengthening to the mold to resist bending, its like 2 min of R&D

that's what made the weight go up slightly

the new one still bends, and you can break it just as easily if you want to it just wont bend as easily if you sit on it

ive personally broken a bunch of them (its my job) the amount of force required to break the IP6 and the 6p is nearly the same, and the fail in the same way, they cantilever off the top of the battery and break at the weak point by the power/volume buttons]

if you bend them in a way where you account for that they can take an amazing amount of force, and provided you don't go insane they will return to their normal shape without any issues

the orig 6 however stayed slightly bent when doing this under low loads, just a slight curve, still 100% functional
