Had the 6p for a few days now, but today was the first day I got the sim switched over and started really using it. I'm a little torn (as I knew I would be with stock android) but it's still a nice device. The software is what holds it back:
Good (which isn't news):
+great build quality
+great fingerprint sensor
+good screen, looks to be the same as my note 4
+responsive, smooth (for the most part)
+flashlight toggle in quick settings
Bad:
-Even less customization than Samsung offers w/out root (can't change quick settings)
-No longer an option to organize setting screens by tab, only in one long list (don't like it)
-No way to clear everything out of recent apps with one button, despite every other phone maker having this feature.
-Camera app is kind of lackluster. Can't even turn off the shutter sound... which I kind of assumed was a given
- No separate volume for ringer and notification sounds anymore (why take features away?)
- No way to adjust vibration amount or intensity, it's either on or off
Different:
- I'm just used to hardware home & back buttons, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Apparently there was a lot I took for granted in touchwiz that's not in Android. If I had known so many things I used were going to be missing I would have thought twice about going this route. Many of these missing things might be available in roms, but then I'm tied to that particular developer updating things on time.
Not that I don't like the phone, it's great hardware. I just didn't know how limited stock Android truly was until you dig through what the devs have done.
