Note I am neither recommending this or not recommending this, it is an off brand china tablet but spec wise it looks great for the price.

Do at your own risk.

Samsung ARM Cortex A-8... with luck Google Play may think its an iPad D:

or it could be a RockChip 2906 or AllWinner Boxchip

Now this is an assumption but based off the gpu and the cpu it appears to be a Rockchip RK2918 (I am basing this off a google search, this is me making an assumption, I have no way to verify.)

Now from a quick glance at the side when I saw it in person it appears to have two micro usb connections, a separate power connection (that is not usb), and mini hdmi (same type of connection you see on some geforce video cards.)

I bought one today. I'm very happy. Don't expect the smoothness of an Ipad display but this is the biggest bang for the buck you'll find. Not mentioned is that it's as thin as the Ipad and very light and comfortable to hold.

The ports on the side are:

earphone jack
Micro USB port
Micro SDHC Card slot
OTG port
HDMI port
Charger port

Earlier post says available for pre-order. Sorry, seems a little suspicious that being your first post and all. Think I'll wait for more smoke signals on this one...

Suspicious??? I bought the tab at Frys yesterday in Oakbrook (chicago)...... came home and googled the product and found this forum... thought it good to contribute my experience..... in fact I'm posting this on the tab right now. I'm happy enough with the tab that I'm goin to buy today a screen shield and folding holder. And it probably will fit nicelly in Ipad accessories but I can't be sure till I actually try it.

I also picked up this tablet out in Las Vegas frys, it was advertised in frys Friday newspaper insert,

They did not have the unit out on display either and there is a 15% restocking fee, but I took a shot and so far. I'm glad I did so far its been running fine no problems as of yet, except maybe the keyboard seems to be a bit slow and I'm just finding that out now as I type otherwise its been ok , maybe I look for a keyboard app later.

Just a quick fyi in todays frys ad they have a idea usa (same brand) 10.1" android 4.0 tablet for $99 , its specs are diff than the 9.7"
You can pull up specs at frys site item # is 7069271 its model T1002

The 9.7" CT802 item # 7105852, to compare specs if you like

The 10.1" is advetised as a 1 day only sale

I ran up to frys this morning to see the $99 10" just to compare the two tablets, again they didn't have a display unit available, I asked about the 99$ unit and was told it is a older tablet that they just updated to 4.0 and the salesman was pretty emphatic about staying with the 9.7" model. He was explaining issues with the 10" tablet but he had a thick accent and I had a hard time understanding him. So I can't really relay much info on, he did say it was capacitive screen, 4gb ,

Good luck

I got a chance to play with the $99 10.1 tablet and I'd agree with what the salesman said. It just was very slow switching between apps and generally felt cheap if you will. I guess it is due to the 512 MB RAM. It is a good deal if you picked it up for kids etc but not even remotely useful otherwise IMO.

I picked up the 9.7" version as it felt somewhat OK after playing with it for a bit. The website says available for preorder but the stores have it in the "back" if you ask for it. If it doesn't feel good, I will return it.

You can get a 32g sdcard for $20 after rebate at frys and its a nice cheap upgrade. Also the dimentions of the tab are exactly Ipad...... so all the covers are ok except for the camera hole.

Later...... Wrong...... covers and folders for the Ipad are just a little bit shorter in both dimentions, so they do not fit.

The main problem I've come across when buying knock-offs like this is battery life, especially after a few months. I bought a cheap MP3 player on a deal like this a while back, and the battery lost half it life after about 6 months (and battery life was crappy to begin with).

This device comes rooted out of the box

This would be better.. and cheaper.

It has a kickstand.. done deal eh?

I'm pretty sure it has a dual core 4430.. But I could be wrong..

yeah I'm wrong.. RockChip.. Better off getting the 249$ 1.5ghz 4460 G9 turbo.. whatever its called.. The above model also seems to have 2 point cap touch.. not cool.

CT802 is single core A8, just wanted to throw it out there for anyone reading this thread.
I like that it is rooted out of the box, but TWC TV app doesn't want to play in it because it is rooted, and there is no superuser.apk to rename. Anyone know any other workarounds to hide root status?

doh' already discussed and solved on xda dev forums

What GPU does this have?
Seems like this model has the Rockchip RK6918 system-on-a-chip (SOC) with single core Cortex A8 CPU and Vivante GC800 GPU. Video playback is reported to be good. The silicon is optimized to decode VP8 @ 1080p. Reported to do well with H.264 too.

Now I get why this is cheaper than current models from Asus, Acer, etc. The tech (single core CPU RK6918) is about a year old. If one wants smoother multi-tasking, then consider Tegra 3, etc. If $400 fell from the sky, I would get the Asus TF300. But $200 ($188+tax) sure is enticing.

Yes the benchmarks are pretty weak. My 3 yr old OCed HTC Incredible has better benchmarks. But for the budget and intended use, I really have very few complaints so far.

I can upload some pics here as work in progress.

Thanks, tifozi.

Looks like this CT802 has the Allwinner A10 system-on-a-chip (SOC) with 1.2 GHz single core Cortex A8 CPU and Mali-400 MP GPU. The distributor incorrectly lists the GPU as the Vivante GC800 which led me to believe that the CT802 has a RK2918 SOC.

Kind of a bummer to to see the display resolution is 1024x720 rather than the 1024x768 listed on the distributor's and Fry's web sites.

768 * 15/16 = 720
The panel may be 768 but due to the little control bar that android 4 (and android 3) use you only have 720 usable pixels. The rest are used for the home button, back button, etc.

Wonder if Netflix works on the ct802.

I cancelled my NFLX subscription a few months ago when they insisted on burying their heads in their own behinds. But I don't see any reason why it won't work. I tested WatchESPN HD channels and they all played great. ESPN streams are known to stream a very high quality if your device and network can support it. Noticed CT802 became slightly warm after playing it for about 30 mins, and that happens to my PC too because of the high quality stream.

I think this one should have gone for $99 as a special sale, then it would have been perfect!
