I have the ZALMAN CNPS7000B-Cu CPU Cooler, which comes with a 90 MM fan. The back of my case has a 90 MM Fan as well. I am looking for get a tube to connect the 2 of them together, but so far I seen only tubes for up to 80 MM Fans. Are there any that will fit the 90 MM fans?
This is what I am talking bout: http://www.directron.com/badongp60.html

I was thinking of going to like Home Depot and get a Home Dryer Tube, cut it and tie it down with ties around the fans, but the Dryver tube is bout half inch smaller then the fans itself.

Anyone has this or got round it some other way? I could try cardboard, but what would be a good material?

Thankx...

is the fan in the back of your case input or exhuast? if it is exhuast you would not want to put a tube to your cpu fan. THe fans would be competing for air. Also if you do this and have the rear fan as input then there would be no fan to exhuast the rest of the case heat (from vidcard, chipset, and hds)

Yeah I have seen ducting done alot. But like peleejosh said you don't want to use an exhaust fan, most I have seen use a side intake fan.

this is MEGA weird...

even if it were the case that the CPU would be 5C cooler, this looks like temps for memory and high-end video card, board etc. would *sgnificantly* rise......they basically made th rear exhaust an intake......

ANd as the others said....so now you're missing another exhaust and the only exhaust would be from the PSU...case/mem temps would be enormous

Well honestly what I am trying to do is 2 things.
Lower the CPU a bit (now its round 58 FULL LOAD with games running).
Lower my 6800GT Temps. The 6800GT temp in full load is round 80, which is quite high. I played UT2K4 for a while (bout 20-30 mins) with the cover on (but not screwed in, its a Desktop Case), and the game started to act funny, run a little slower in heavier fights, etc. So I thought it was maybe a glitch in the server or maybe a bump in my INET connection. Well I went forward and played a little more, and again the same thing. So I just sat there in the game, picked up the top cover, and touched the GPU (the back of the card where the GPU resides). Well darn it, that thing was so hot, I had to remove my hand ASAP, and I mean ASAP cause I would probablly burn my fingers. It was hot, quite hot. So I played for a little more, THEN I exited the game rapidly, went into the Video Properties, and looked at the Temp that is build into the Nvidia Drivers. Well the thing said 80, and at the same time i put my hand on the GPU again same place, and WAS OK, did not burn my fingers, but I could hold my fingers on the GPU for maybe a few seconds. Then of course it cooled down in a few seconds after I exited the game.

Why I asked for a tubing is because I want to separate the CPU heat from the VGA heat. I was not going to make my back fan an intake.
What I wanted to do is make a hole in the side panel, put a tube that will take the hot air from the CPU and push it out the case thru the tube. That is why i asked, but I wanted a tube that will fit a 90 MM fan, since the Zalman Fan is 90 MM. I will probably end up making it myself, but wanted to know if anyone knows a good material that I can work with, that is flexible and easy to put together. Probablly Lowes or HD will be the place to visit soon.

Thankx guys.

Agreed, but I did not see one available in 90 MM. I will have to build one, but was thinking maybe someone seen one around. I seen 80 MM but not 90.

I was thinking also of using the round plastic CD from a CD bundle. U know when U buy a CD bundle like a 50 pack CD, it comes in a round plastic cover, which happens to be bout quarter inch wider then the Zalman 90 CU CPU Heatsink and fan. I could probably take that cover it on the bottom with electric tape, and add it to the side panel.

I will have to test things and see if its worth it. I am gonna make a side panel out of some plastic I got some, dremel a 90 MM cutout, but the tube in, then do some temp tests to see if any differences. I really want to take down that GPU temp.

Thankx...

Hello

I just made a thread about this and I purchased the side ducts from Antec. The inlet side of the tube is the 80mm size but the other end which sets on top of the cpu fan is flared out and the length of the tube is also adjustable.
