Summers can be very bad (hot + humid).... and summer lasts from about May through September.
Real estate prices are pretty high, but not crazy high yet. To get reasonably priced real estate, you're looking at living further out of the city, where it's basically strip-mall suburbia.

i thought austin real estate was dirt cheap compared to the rest of the country?
