Is 9000 ladybugs better than 1000 crickets?

I wouldn't be caught dead letting 9000 lady bugs go in my yard (if I had one). Have any of you ever dealt with large numbers of these things? They are so annoying. Always crawling around everywhere, getting in your house. They look nice when they are rare, one a day or so, but 9000 in a small area is a bit much...

Last summer I was rock climbing up near Lake Superior's north shore during a big lady-bug season. There was this one route we wanted to do, and hiked in a couple miles just to get there. I setup the rope, and while rapelling down I noticed the crack we were going to climb was COVERED in lady bugs. Climbing back up sucked because we were constantly crunching the damn things with our hands and feet. Didn't make for a very fun climbing trip...

If you know what you're getting into, I still appreciate the soil-dwelling insect control capabilities of the nematode, but users beware. Take a lesson from me and avoid Orcon's consumer scheme. Insects and parasites might be destructive to your cultigens, but as far as the independent planter is concerned they as a unit are a necessary evil with no easy solution. If you want the quick fix I was after, forget about it. "

I don't believe those are "real" ladybugs. From what I've heard, those really annoying ones are some kind of Asian beetle, and they even eat real lady bugs...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The asian beetles are the ones that actually bite you. The ones in my story were real lady bugs, non-biting bugs. Difference between the two is on the asian ones there is a cluster of little white dots on the head area that look like a "M" I believe.

Either way, they all are annoying if you have 9000 of them...

LOL its probably just an estimation as in, the average size is x, so if we fill this x volume box with bugs we will have approximately 9000 ladybugs in there, or they might just have a sweat shop with migrant workers counting each one..who knows
