Have you been installing the latest inf drivers?

Are you using both power plug ins on the mb?

It really sounds like an overclocking problem, even though you say you aren't
That will happen when the cpu or memory is pushed to far.
45c seems high if you aren't o/cing.

There is the possibility that you have two bad sticks of ram, or that you have the 3:4 divider on and the ram can't handle it.

I don't see anything in your post about trying a different hard drive. You should definitely do that if you haven't.

Try loading fail safe settings in bios. If you still freeze and lock up possible bad cpu or motherboard. Unless your memory is running out of spec. cas 2 when it'll only work at cas 2.5. I've had memory that was supposed to work cas 2 but didn't unless all the other memory things were up.

Its all about the memory honey

I had the same issues before I finally found that my dammed Bios has a default cas setting of 2.5 and my memory was not handling that speed. Same reboots, explorer crashes and coming back to the desktop with games. Its because the memory can just about manage to handle the cas speed set in your bios, but funks up sometime when it cannot cope up . Start with Cas3 in the Bios settings and turn speed optimizations off (In case you have any). That will solve the problem.

I don't think there is a setting for cas3 in the Asus. His memory SHOULD handle it without any problems at all. But I'm still thinking that is the problem. You could always change 6t to 7t just to be on the safe side.

Try using only one stick at a time and try different slots. So you'll have 4 different tests to run.
stick a in slot 1
stick a in slot 2
stick b in slot 1
stick b in slot 2

The industry average is that 1 stick in a 1000 will be bad. So you might just be unlucky.

try just the OS installed ..no other apps..no other..just basic ...keep all other data out of the equation to help isolate the glitch/trouble..run memtest on the memory(prolly fine..) ..there are lots of caveats and other variables that could be the underlying cause
