Graduated HS in 93, college right after in Seattle area. Fortunately I hated 80's music with a passion, so grunge was like a breath of fresh air. I still remember the first time I heard Nirvana in Portland. Huge Alice in Chains fan, my fav of em all.

The 90s were great for music. Shanachie Records mined the Library of Congress and released tons of old blues and gospel recordings on their Yazoo label. Japan's King Records released a series of ~150 world music CDs covering the globe.

In fact I hated 80's music so much that prior to grunge, all I liked was zep, floyd, etc. Do love Rush (the band *pre-troll block), and they were in the 80's, but formed in the 70's of course. Guess I was considered musically challenged by peers prior to grunge, but did not give a fVck.

The 90s is like a black hole for music for me.

I didn't care for the grunge stuff, and while I liked some of the stuff in the late 90s (at the time), I can't listen to it anymore.

I attribute my feelings mostly to the fact that I was still very young in the 90s (I'm 23 now).
