I'm 25 now and I am still stuck in the 90s. What stuff do I listen to on a near daily basis? Mazzy Star, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Tool etc. It was a great decade for popular music.

The 90s is like a black hole for music for me.

I didn't care for the grunge stuff, and while I liked some of the stuff in the late 90s (at the time), I can't listen to it anymore.

I attribute my feelings mostly to the fact that I was still very young in the 90s (I'm 23 now).

LOL. I can imagine a kid who was just a tot during the grunge surge would not like it at the time, perfectly understandable.

I liked the rap music of the time, Black Moon, RedMan, Smif n Wesson, Jeru da damaja, Guru, Mobb Deep etc...

The grunge rock scene took over our school and sucked. Chicks in high school dressed dumpy in the mid 90's because of their obsession with the 90's grunge music.

Why did anyone think flannel shirts were hot on chicks? I wanted the tight jeans and cleavage revealing shirts for high school, not this:

Yea. It's weird though, I can appreciate some earlier music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but not 90s music.

I think part of the reason, is that I really liked the classic rock, but it slowly devolved, and I never really found a substitute for it.

On one hand this thread brings back good memories... playing N64 and whipping ass in Golden Eye, taking vacation to get and play Dreamcast, my first 'real' job, moving out, alcohol was new to me, and on and on. But at the same time I feel old now, I hate almost all of today's music. Damn kids, and their Miley Cyrus... get off my lawn!

Same. Brings back college memories, playing Doom II and Duke Nukem 3d in the school labs on the blazing Pentiums and Power Macs, doing the night shift at Mcdonalds, no real internet compared to today to speak of...argh now I'm old.

+1, couldn't have said it better.

I would add the internet to the list. Being able to go from a 14.4K modem to a 28.8K was awesome. Being able to double your speed for a $200.00 US Robotics modem was fun times. Creating and downloading doom .wad files was great too. Broadband wasn't really available yet, so LAN keggers/party's were a real event too. Damn I'm old.

For computers I remember upgrading my 386 S/X 25 MHZ to a DX by adding a math coprocessor, and later on overclocking my Pentium 90 to 100 mhz! lol.

My first 'real' job was on a helpdesk. Our computer lab had a 2x CD burner, back then CD burners were not something home computers had. I remember driving around with my buddy and listening to CD's we made. We'd pick up his girlfriend and the girl I was trying to hook up with, they were amazed that we could make our own CD's. My computer was a Penitum Pro 200MHz 256k L2 at work. I remember giving my friend's father advice on what computer to buy, he got a K7 700MHz slot A machine. Playing Command & Conquer Red Alert over dial up until the early morning (A-bomb launch detected!). Mortal Kombat 4, I bet I dropped $50+ in quarters on that game. Yea, those were the good ol' days.
