The Oscars show existed long before there were ratings to get. And the Oscars show will continue to exist even if California falls into the ocean and the only people left in show biz are a few interns who happened to be in New York at the time. They'll dress up and give each other awards because that's all the Oscars has even been. A circle jerk of self-satisfication with no more real world relevance than the Mid-West Toner Salesman of the Year Award. They ACT like it's important and some idiots believe them.

U mad bro?

I enjoyed Parasite, but I like Korean movies. I'm a fan of Song Kang Ho.

So it looks like it was originally made in the language of every country you release it in.*

So you can keep your eyes on the screen and not have to constantly be reading words at the bottom.

* If it's done properly. Too many studios cheap out on their visual effects these days.
You do realise that one of the many ways to learn how to speak a new language is to watch a foriegn film with English subtitles.

One long Woke fest.

Rich idiots flying around in private planes preaching about something.

They can’t stay married, can’t stay out of rehab and can’t speak without a writer banging out lines for them.

There should probably be a law where anyone who owns a private jet is not allowed to complain about global warming unless they sell the jet first, and then uses the proceeds of the jet sale to plant trees.

People who own private jets probably produce more CO2 emissions in a year than I will in my entire lifetime. If CO2 emissions really are a primary factor to global warning, then guess what Hollywood... you're a major contributor of it.

I wouldn't mind subtitles for certain movies from decades ago. (Godzilla comes to mind.) But this is 2020. If you want to release a foreign-language film in America these days, you should pay for a proper voice dub and deepfake lip syncing.
Call it what you want but i don't want to read a movie. Have it as an option on the DVD/streaming service later at least.

I don’t watch movies or TV and can’t believe that educated people actually watch these music, movies and other BS award shows.

You gonna pay for that dubbing? I don't see how a Korean film is going to get dubbed in English faithfully.
I mean just look at how bad most of the anime dubbing are.

Cars and trucks emit 1/5th of the carbon dioxide emissions of the United States annually whereas Aviation is responsible for 12% of CO2 emissions from all transports sources-and that's ALL AVIATION. So, cars are still worse.

so, 20% of total vs 12% of total. Not a huge difference, especially considering whatever the carlane ratio is in the US at any given time....let's say it's about 1,000:1?

that still makes planes far more problematic. eliminating one commuter plane would remove far more CO2 than would eliminating the car of each passenger on that ~200 seat plane.
