I am looking to buy a new motherboard for socket 939 AMDs. Which 939 chipset is the best for overclocking? Also, i have an AGP video card that I want to keep with this new board. So what board with a good Overclocking potential has an AGP slot?
Thanks

I have to say that I like my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. Relatively few problems with it, and OCs really well.

I was looking into the DFI nf3 UT Ultra-D.

It seems feature rich and 939 and AGP and DFI overclocking. Not many places have it anymore (not sure why) but www.pricegrabber.com has a few places.

And from what i heard it is X2 able from the get-go

NO!!!!

That motherboard has issues, literally. Even for non-overclockers. It's got a resistor or something that needs removal or something like that... It's highly unstable.

I say get the EPoX board. The Abit is nice too, but won't go over 267 HTT, for me at least.

Well, I've heard many people, specially on these forums, complaining about MSI.

I will have to recomend something from ASUS or ABIT; A8V should be a good gamble.

From what i've heard and read on many forums, many people have had issues with the MSI. What about the Epox EP-9NDA3J? And are there any nforce4 boards with agp taht are good OC'ers? I have a 3000+ Venice i want to OC with a good aftermarket fan, so i want to get the max out of it, but with agp.
Also is the Epox EP-9NDA3J restricted to dual channel memory only?

You can work any Athlon 64 skt939 chip on dual channel or single channel, its your choice. It all depends on the memory modules you use.

Epox is a great brand, and I think that any past problems they had with their line has been already fixed, so the chances you get a deffective mobo are close to none.

If you're looking for price, get the MSI, it should work fine for your needs. For quality and overclocking, get EPoX or Asus.

My Epox 9NDA3+ has been great, I recommend it or the 9NDA3J.

I'm not really an overclocker, but the Abit KV8 K8T800 VIA board is VERY nice. Stable as anything. Comes with some software over clocking and whatnot, but I only have retail box 64 3500+ cooling, so not really an option for me.

No Stay away from any VIA based mobo. Every time I built a a system or upgraded my mobo I am told that VIA have changed their ways that this chipset or that chipset is the changing point for the company. Every time I pick up the best for that chipset and every time 6-12 months later I run into a problem that turns out to be this massive problem all of those chipsets have. First it was network card compatibility, then it was the AGP, then it was the memory controller, then it was the hard driver controller. Again try your best to find a non VIA solution.

If you do not want MSI, I can only suggest an Asus A8V deluxe.. it's a VIA chipset, but I have used one for a customer, and it works very well... stable and reliable as can be.

Not true, the K8T890 won't. the K8T800 Pro works fine with X2.

the A8V is a K8T800 Pro.
