I am going to build a new SLI system and I'm wondering what CPU to buy. Im trying to keep the cost of it down so I can spend the majority of my money on my video cards, but I want a CPU powerful enough to not bottleneck it too much. Im planning on using 2 6800GTs so, which CU is a good balence between power and cost? Thanks.

Youre actually gonna do the sli thing eh? Kinda dumb imo but...I guess if you got money to burn.

You'll have to OC to not be CPU limited, as I've heard you'll be CPU-limited with 2x6800U's even with an FX-55. Get one of the lower Winnies (3000 or 3200) and crank it. It remains to be seen how well boards like the A8N-SLI overclock, though, so you actually might be better off in the short term with just one GPU.

I am of the same opinion, if only because at 14 you haven't got money to burn (and I'm particularly watchful of my finances).

your going to be so CPU bound that the second GT will be a waste, even if you get to 2.8ghz. (ok well maybe not then) CPU ocing will be a must though, so i'll say 3200.

Every single SLI bench with 6800U/GTs is running an FX-55, and the system is still bottlenecked by the CPU.

You will see an increase in performance, but considerably less than what is shown in the reviews.

I got my 3500+ Winnie from Monarch back in November OEM for 252.

EDIT: Most mangled spelling of Winnie I've ever seen.

Yep and you need better RAM and Cooling plus have to add some v's to reach the same OC as the 3200. In the totality the price difference favors the 3200

I'd go for the 3500+ winchester if you can. From what i've seen, they can hit the same speeds as the lower ones (2.4-2.5)without increasing the voltage at all, which leaves quite a bit of head room for higher clocks.
