9500 Pro price drop?

I am really interested in getting a 9500 Pro I have a GeForce 2 Ti as of now... so the improvment will be huge. Does anyone know if the price of these cards is going to go down with the release of the 9800 Pro this month. Does anyone know when the the 9800 pro will be relesed this month like a week from now or at the very end of the month? and when it is release will the 9500 pros price drop I know that these cards arn't in the same category Price/Performance in the 9500 pro vs pure performance with the 9800 pro. Thanks for any help

They should be released within the next 2 weeks, I would think that would bring the 9500 pro down in price.

i too am anxiously awaing the release of the 9800 so i can pick up a 9500 pro on the cheap... right now i'm running with 32MB Geforce2 MX (yes... mx, i know it's shiat)... it would be nice to bump my battlefield 1942 settings up to 1024 and high detail...

any more definate date than "this month" ?

lol looks like we're all still playing the waiting game. Pricewatch has some vendors already offering the 9800 but I'm guessing it will be by the end of March before most vendors have it in stock.. and implement that most anticipated price drop! (I'm upgrading from a matrox g200 *gasp* so I'm really anxious )

eklass I just upgraded from a 32mb Geforce 2MX to a Radeon 9500 even if it doesn't drop in price, i would say its a good price anyway.

It stopped me affording food for a week lol, but it was still worth it

And considering the 9500 runs Battlefield at 1280x960 just fine with 8x AF and 4x AA on my system I'd imagine the 9500pro does even better,

Yeah, I'm delaying my computer purchase all on the notion that the 9700 pro price should be dropping from 300 soon, I sure hope that's the case, or else, I'm waiting around for nothing.

Looking at the specs of the 9600, I would wager the 9500 is going to be discontinued(vanilla and pro). With the 9600s layout it is likely to get beaten soundly by the 9500Pro(although it should outperform the vanilla), ATi isn't likely to want that happening for their newly launched higher version number part. Also, the chip on the 9500 is the same as that used for the 9700 boards which is, on an economic basis, not smart for ATi to continue producing while they have a less expensive chip available to fill in the general performance realm. Looking at it from a business perspective, ATi would be foolish to keep the R9500Pro in production.

Well the other day I finaly gave in I bought a OEM 9500 Pro anyways should be here firday. was only $178 I can't wait upgrading from a GeForce 2 TI to this woo hoo!!!

I'd be wary about waiting for a 9500 Pro price drop. If the 9600 Pro performs slightly worse or even simply on par, there's a chance that a high demand for the 9500 Pro's will keep the price high, especially since they will no longer be produced. The 9800 Pro shouldn't really affect the prices for the 9500 cards either... they should only force the 9700 series to drop a bit.

I would pick one up but not open it before the 9600's release incase the 9600 line doesn't do that well and the 9500 Pro ends up costing more.
