same here... Those are 45s aren't they?

Also, that is hardly a bench press... you didnt even move the bar 3 inches...

His range of motion IS three inches! Reference the "Human T-Rex" comment, above.

There is no point whatsoever in posting on ATOT other than to increase your post count, which we have established is pointless.

Fixed.

Coming from the guy with nearly 8000 posts.

Brigden, the "fix" wasn't meant specifically for you, rather how absurd it is to say what he is doing is useless. Most everything we do in life is useless, so why bash this guy.

I know it wasn't aimed at me, and I appreciate your sense of humour. I was just pointing out an ironic observation. Anyway, I semi-agree that many things in life are pointless, but deforming your body in order to accomplish a useless act with no merit seems a little extreme.

I remember when Ted Arcidi benched 700 lbs...that was a record I thought would stand for awhile. I guess these steriods are getting pretty good.

1000 pounds is really close.....

PS: Taking roids to get that big and strong and then dying at 40 isn't really something to be proud of !

I think that those bench shirts and squat shorts are totally bullsh*t.

Anyway, Damn. I thought that the max bench was still in the 700's. Squat is barely over 1000 with deadlifts around 930 or so, right?

The same could be said of most sports. Granted, this is one that destroys your body when taken to the extreme, much the same way that a weekend bodybuilder benefits from their sport to a great extent, but the pros will all lead shortened lives due to their abuse of their bodies.

I can do that much too. If I split it up into 4 sections. Some of us taller, lanky people have to move the weight so far. I see these guys with short powerful arms and huge thick chests that move the bar seriously 6 inches, whereas I have to move the dang thing what seems like 3+ feet. Either way, 965 pounds is absolutely insane.

Ditto.

He loves what he is doing and that is that.

Some guys here have what some people call 'weird' or 'strange' hobbies. But who is anyone to say it is crappy or useless? At least this guy does something he wants.

It is impressive what this guy is doing. He may not look the part but he is one strong mofo!

He may also be a crappy bouncer if he doesn't know how to fight etc. Size can be intimidating but a solid boxer will have his way easy but the boxer ain't no way BP what he did!

He moves the bar to more 6inch's. He has short arms because you will not find a guy with long arms doing that. Like you won't find a great high jumper that is tall and certainly not less then 5"7! And saying oh he doesn't have to jump high he is about 6"4! But he still has to do it.

Props to the guy but if if he is on roids well he still had to work for it. But if that was a drugs contested comp then thats is well done

bodybuilders are the ones that look all ripped. weightlifters lift for strength. the reason that guy's arms stick out like that is because of the bench press shirt he's wearing, i wonder how much he could bench without it (i would guess around 700?)

No way does his BP shirt add 265lbs on. NO WAY.

He probably does at least 880lbs or 900lbs without his BP shirt. I really don't have a clue of what his BP shirt adds but it is certainly not 265lbs. He does wear wrist straps but that doesn't add much poundage just supports the wrists.

Strong guy. The bar does 'pause' for a tiny bit and does 'go back down' fo ra tiny part and that would count as a NO LIFT though imo. But the ref's that day gave it to him. Also depends how strict the judges are.

What is with those stupid ass shirts? They make no sense to me. If you can't bench the weight without a shirt you can't bench it. It would be like me building an exoskeleton and then benching 3000 lbs. What's the point? How did these creep into accepted competition?

FWIW I think those shirts add in the vicinity of 50 lbs or so.

Well they add more depending on how experienced the user is bu nothing crazy on it.

Well most sports have 'equipment'. Sprinting has Spiked shoes. Pole Vaulters use to use an metal pole but now a days they have a 'flexible' pole that helps you out but they are still amazing athletes. People wear back supports for shot putters, hammer throwers, javelin and OL.

I wear special OL shoes that are hard at the bottom and don't give in like trainers do in general. Just means that when I drive I get more force to the ground instead of the shoe heel part compressing down on me. I'd lift a bit less with my reguarly shoes or just make it?

Yeah most sports have equipment but I'm not a fan of the BP, squat or dl suits either. BUT if everyone is doing it and your not you will be at a disadvantage. Side note I refuse to wear a belt when train or lift.

Well in the cases of something like soccer -er, football! -, if you're trying to play without cleats in bare feet, it's really not going to be very fun to watch. Especially if it's slippery. The game is just stupid without cleats. I think they enhance the game, but in the case of this clothing it does nothing but artificially raise numbers. It's like how baseball allows bats, but not corked ones. There is just no need for a corked bat to do anything but artificially inflate numbers. Pole vaulting does it in the sense of it would be a high jump without the pole, but the pole itself has made it a separate sport. The thing with bench shirts is what if a company comes out with one that allows me to bench 200 lbs more, or 500 lbs more. It just is silly at that stage. Fishing: You can use a fishing pole (otherwise it would not be any fun), but you can't use dynamite.

A belt I can see some benefits of because although they can definitely increase your lift a lot, they can also save you back tons. Back when I used to do deadlifts religiously I had little difficulty working up past 300 lbs because my form was total sh*t and I'd use a belt to take all the weight maybe they should take them out of competition afterall!

With the posible amount of steriods that he has in his body, I would be surprised if he had any genitalia left

There has been some debate to how much some of those shirts add in lifting. I have seen the shirts explode and the person drop the weight on themselves pretty hard.

I can see why you would write the second sentence, but after reading the first one, what the hell is wrong with you?

I have to say, I think this is grotesque. He has basically surrendered any kind of normal life, and a normal lifespan, in favor of raw strength. I appreciate his accomplishment, but I frankly see this as sad more than anything.

I disagree. Men, like other animals, strive to attract the opposite sex. Some guys do it with fast cars, some guys do it with money, others do so with their appearence. Improving one's appearence benefits every aspect of one's life. Attractive people are more successful because they're given more opportunities, get more respect, and just generally have an easier time through life.

This guy, on the other hand, has rendered a once useful body into a revolting monstrosity for the sole purpose of lifting as much weight as possible. A position useful for building pyramids.
