965P-DS3 overclock e4300?

Im buying a good quality/price system wich include the GA-965P-DS3, the Core 2 Duo E4300 and the Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048 2X1GB DDR2-667 CL 4-4-4-12 Memory.

I plan to overclock the RAM to 800mhz, with higher timings if needed (it is a very good RAM based on many reviews) and then to overclock my E4300 to obtain a greater performance at
a minimum of 400FSB, perhaps more if you guys suggest it..

I only saw reviews of the DS3 ocing E6300 E6400 on anandtech, how about my config and intentions?

Since this is my first post, I want to say that anandtech website and anandtech forums appeared to me as the most professional and friendly online hardware sources.

I have the choice between de DS3 and the DFI Infinity 975X/G. Like I said I plan to overclock but without 1066 RAM. Only with 667 overclocked to 800RAM. In that case, is the DFI better?
But the DS3 is cheaper,looks better,better passive cooling and problem seems to be solved in the newest bios..

First off: Welcome to the forums!!

Next: The E4300 will not get you to 400FSB. That would mean that it would be at 3.6GHz. Most of them are topping out at just about 3GHz and slightly higher. Some don't even reach 3GHz.

I would suggest an E6300. With the 667 ram you can take that to 2.33GHz @ 1:1 without overclocking your memory. If you get your memory to 800 @ 1:1 you will be running at 2.8GHz.

My suggestion will be to get the E6300 and some 800 ram. You don't need to stress your budget however. Just get whatever 800 memory your pocket will allow.

Even by lowering the multiplier I wont be able to get 400FSB with the E4300? Like 8x400.. I think I saw someone with that setting.
Because there http://www.techspot.com/review/40-core2-e4300-vs-e6300-overclocking/page5.html they easily overclock the E4300 to 386x9..

Anyway, If I dont overclock the E4300 to 400FSB, what would be the best FSB/RAM frequency or ratio?

u ought to be able to easily get the 4300 to it's max w this board... the higher mult and capabilities of the ds3 should allow u to just push up the fsb to watever the max of either the chip or memory is...
