Hi, i want to know which is faster...

I actually tend torward the 9800np. What i am thinking it would be "better" is it is newer.
I don't know about the clock rate and other tech stuffs.

I will need a TV tuner card too. Is the All in Wonder version a good card? If i will go with AIW, i will get the 9700 pro AIW.

If i can get a 9800np, i will get a seperate TV tuner card such as Leadtek TV2000XP.

People please gimme suggestions..

I am not favoured to ATi, its just i am using a R9100 now, just don't want to get too much of conflicts once i switch the video driver.
if I should keep my eyes on nvidia's, please suggest.

thanks

In the reviews I've seen, the 9700 Pro is slightly faster, but I would go with the 9800 as it is better with AA/AF and is, well, newer. I think it can o/c farther, too. As far as NVidia, the 5900 non-ultra is a great value in that price range...(/me finishes reading your post) But, I suppose, if you're looking for a TV Tuner, you may as well go with the 9700 Pro AIW.

9700pro AIW. Less devices and pretty similar performance (a bit higher for 9700pro at stock)

9700P vs. 9800: same difference. 325 vs. 325MHz core, 310 vs. 290MHz DDR memory. They're close enough in speed that it shouldn't matter which way you go. The 9800 may have an extra feature or two in hardware, but nothing that seems to make a clear difference now.

Both will be severe overkill for a P3, though.

I doubt there is any non-pro 9800 anymore after ati noticed that these are easily re-modded into their higher end version 9800pro, therefore, production for such 9800np has long ceased, only left those 9800xt, 9800pro,9800se. if u still can find it, then its your luck...

heard so much about modding,

after the soft-mod, will it really meet the speed of the actual 'pro' card

Yup it will, im aiming to buy an AIW 9800 SE from Ebay that is 100% guaranteed softmoddable to an AIW 9800 PRO. Itll cost about £180-£190 I think. Not bad at all!
