9800 Pro reported as 9800SE

My new system with a 9800Pro shows up as a 9800SE in the system specs, is that normal?

Is it a PowerColor? I heard there was a PowerColor 9800 Se that you could flash to 9800 Pro, so that's why I'm askin.

I certainly would.

Does it look like a Pro or say Pro on the card itself?
Did it require one of your HD power connectors? If it didn't, it's not a pro.

That's a good sign. When you get home, run 3DMark03 on it and report the score back, that should definately tell which it is, along with the clock speeds as mentioned above. Can you find a pic of what your card looks like (or is it just a reference 9800 Pro)?

Both the SE and the Pro require the extra power connector. The core clock will be the same (380Mhz) but the pro has a mem clock of 337Mhz and the SE has a mem clock of 300Mhz. Also the pro uses a molex and the SE uses a floppy connector. The pro has a silver heatsink and the SE has a black one. This is assuming it is a Powercolor. It is not unheard of for a card to show up as something different than it is. Mine shows as a pro but is also BBA.

The Pro has 8 pipelines, the SE has 4. The difference in performance is staggering.
