Not sure if this has been posted before - if so, please forgive me.

No AMD launch would be complete without NV's spoilers (and vice-versa) and NV doesn't disappoint. Here is the pics of upcoming G92X2. They added an HDMI port (no suprise) as well as what looks to be an SPDIF outlet (surprise).

They look incredibly huge. I wonder when they will bench them, and how much they'll cost.

Are they supposed to be two G92 GT or GTS cores?

No clue. Although I don't think that'll make much of a difference given it's got a thermal envelope to meet. if it's GT they could clock higher than GTS or the other way around, I'd think? By the looks of it, the stock cooler looks very sturdy and it'd be hard for a third-party to conceive a more effective cooler. Especially if this product is a stop-gap measure.

They'll fit to ATX cases just fine (if that ATX case is in line with ATX specifications). I'm not sure about some of Antec's "ATX" cases.

they wouldnt fit in MY case because I have 5 hard drives... these cards require you to sacrifice several hard drive bays to make them fit.

Depending on this cost of this thing, it might be in my future. From my perspective, one of these would most likely be a much cheaper upgrade than a 780i board and another 8800GTS 512. Then again, an upgrade until the actual next generation of cards might not even be worthwhile period.

I have a GTS 320MB and I hope to get 24" of goodness sometime soon so...

I'm gonna want more horsepower @ 1920x1200.

The paradigm of shoving a truckload of monster-sized hardware into your case for the highest performance possible is getting old.

It could be that only one GPU was working. Performance was very close to 8800 GTS 512MB..and the fact is that there aren't yet out drivers that would have official support for GF 9800 GX2

I think that's probably the case. From the looks of it, G92's yield has to be healthy by now. Artificially cut-down G92 SKUs and dual G92 SKU... it's just like the 7950GX2 time. With plenty of G92 dice to get rid of before the next generation hits, there is no better way than selling two in a package.

Whether this card is worth buying is, however, depend heavily on NV's SLI support. (dual or quad) In that context, it's worth noting that the situation has changed somewhat.

1. NV's excuse for poor quad-SLI was DirectX 9. That excuse is no longer valid.
2. AMD platform has lost enthusiasts' interest. Only thing that NV has going for itself, platform-wise, is SLI.
3. Larabee with Nehalem. (Don't know how they plan to counter this)

How does this card transfer audio? And what kind? (Stereo would be a joke)
I don't see any pins to be connected with other sound solutions. Unless I'm mistaken, the square outlet is SPDIF, and that means the card has a digital audio pass-through. Without visible pins, the only way to send audio signal would be motherboard must be designed that way? (meaning 750i/780i only, possibly?)

with the right drivers you don't need to make any mobo changes... for example, the audio cord for the CDROM is useless, any program I know of just reads the data off the CD, processess it, and then outputs it.

So I can easily see how they will use a driver that will intercept the audio output and send it to the video card.
