probably because there were some hot deals on BBA 9800's and 9600's on microcenter last week, and once they were all sold out, microcenter dropped the price on this card and everyone that was goin there looking for the other deal found this one. i dunno...just guessin though.

My experience has been there is no relation between the time period vendors post and actual shipping. Can be longer or shorter (usually shorter).

How far out? My GF4 Ti4600/4800 is starting to feal outdated (the fact that I upgraded to a 1600x1200 LCD hurts too, most game won't run smoothly at that resolution) so I want something better. Half Life and Doom 3 aren't out yet, but when they are I'm going to be wanting a new card bad, so when is the next generation coming out?

New cards SHOULD be out within 6 months or so. I'd wait if you can, that Ti4600 should last you that long. Or, I can sell you my 2 month old 9800NP for $150, if you want. Just got a new computer for Christmas, and it has a 9800XT in it.

A new GPU comes out every 8 months, how can you say new cards are on the horizon? The XT series has only been around tops 2 months...

You must be talking about R420, I guess. Yes, it's right at horizon, but even prototype reference board is not yet available. (no idea even the core has been finished) And starting price would be like 500 bucks minimum, how nice price would it be! Also, new generation cards would be in the form of PCI Express later, which requires mobo and CPU to be upgraded.

Price match at CUSA, they have a $20 rebate so that makes it 379.99 AR.
(I don't know if this is YMMV but worked for me)

I bought this card to tie me over until I switch over to PCIExpress and the next gens of GPUs.

Most money ever I spent on a graphic card but I wanted to make sure I could run at 1600x1200 on my LCD and it's quieter than the 9800 Pro
