980ti Keplered?

It IS, the site has been there for many years, maybe you haven't heard of it, but it has very solid benchmarks, even for VR applications. If you have a reason why it's unreliable other than baseless, empty accusations. Please do tell!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt ABT run by a former AT member who was banned? Due to affiliation of some sort to one of the GPU makers?

ABT was apoppin and dmcowen. *definitely not speaking as a moderator*: dmcowen i think eventually got banned because he's a complete nut. apoppin isn't banned. last post for apoppin seems to have been at the 7970 launch, i guess he staked his reputation to the card being short-lived based on his sig. *rickperryoops*

I love how some are so quick to say ABT is not credible, then when faced with other sources that back up ABT's results they then turn to the personal attacks on the site's members. Data be damned, who cares if the results are correct, right guys?! As long as we can get that dig in...

It maybe news for you, but this is called evidence based technical arguments, as opposed to -you know- baseless, non sensical biased accusations, which seems to run rampant here. I don't know about you, but I find this to be the best way to settle an argument.

And no, I didn't collect this data myself, it was done by more technically adebt members at the B3D forum, you know that place which values data (not personal biases) above all else.

Agreed. Entirely unprofessional of a moderator to post that. Not only did he avoid the evidence presented, he attacked the poster for taking the time to prove his argument. Had the tables been turned, that kind of post would have easily led to a ban in this forum and a simple apology would do nothing to walk it back.

One set of corroborated data based on one card does not absolve all other prior suspect/invalid/uncorroborated data points. Even though your premise that 980ti (and Maxwell in general) hasn't been "keplered" is correct, using known biased sources to present that argument doesn't get you anywhere. Especially when there's tons of data from other sources that would support your claim. It's simple, you wanted to make a point and picked the wrong tool for the job and instead of trying to understand why you decided to attack people who were attempting to help.

As for 980ti vs Fury X from a hindsight perspective I feel a lot of this talk stems from the vast difference in performance between reference 980ti at stock and AIB 980ti OC. Fury X was rather close to reference 980ti, especially at 4k, throw in AMD's driver gain over the years of roughly 5% and the cards are neck and neck at 4k. This is in stark contrast to how the cards are remembered and discussed. Everyone "knows" 980ti handily beat Fury X so when someone sees a chart showing them tied they want to know why. It's simple - aftermarket OC'd 980ti can be 30% faster than reference 980ti.

and to add to what you said, at the end of the day we are all humans in the sense that simple things can make someone snap, but the fact he apologized shows he took responsibility for his actions.

I expect way more than a 3 word apology from a MODERATOR. Moderators shouldn't be engaging users like that at all. If moderators put themselves in that position, they shouldn't be moderating. I got infracted when Vega FE came out for making a general statement that "It blows my mind more to watch AMD fans defend a dumpster fire than it is to see AMD stumble" because it was somehow inflammatory. He gets nothing for straight up insulting a particular user. But it's okay because after Elfenix was called out he says "my apologies, then" without admitting guilt.

Of course I've heard of it, that's why I know it's not a credible source. It was a site started by a former AT forumite who was blatantly biased. There was other drama around it in 2012ish IIRC?

The main author is biased, so it is not a credible source. There are dozens of other unbiased (or at least less biased) sources out there. No reason to scrape the bottom the barrel with ABT.

Problem is, anyone who's not a moderator here gets a vacation for a lot less. I got a warning because I hit "like" on a post that a nameless mod didn't like. As far as forums that are actually moderated that I frequent are concerned, AT is the worst one, which is unfortunate because it used to be one of the best ones.
