I got one of these from Etronics just before Christmas for the same price. Great remote, especially if you have several
Sony components. It's not a Pronto, but it's also a LOT less.

I also use this remote, and I love it. It holds all the macro's I need and controls every device I have, with room for expansion. I paid 130 for mine, and that was a good deal. $99 is a phenomonal price!!

I got one of these as a christmas present, and I'm almost certain the person who bought it for me got it from Etronics. It's a great deal for a terrific remote - it controls everything, and the manual is surprisingly well written. It's easy to program - my only complaint (which is not really something they could fix, as far as I know) is that other than for Sony components, it can't differentiate between "on" and "off" signals. So if I program a macro that turns on my TV, VCR, DVD player and amp all at the same time, but I run the macro with the TV already on, it will turn the TV off. There are worse things in life, though!

I've been looking at the one at Best Buy for $179 and thought it was really neet, and almost bought it. Good thing I didn't.

I just ordered it from eTronics for a total of $107. eCost wants around $12.00 for shipping + handeling (handeling charge alone was an additional $5.95 from them).

Radio Shack has a similar unit, but I like the "Sony" name better.

Another vote for an excellent remote. My roommate owns this one and the macro programming is great. When you have a TV, direcTV receiver, and a home theatre receiver which all need to be turned on to watch TV, it's awesome to hit one button and have it all come up for you. Also, since the volume is controlled only from the receiver, which plays sound for the vcr, dvd, tv, and playstation2, this remote offers a feature to where no matter which device you're on, you only control the receiver's volume. This is also a really convenient feature. Definitely worth the $99.

I like the price on this remote, but whassup with that
outrageous S&H charges with ecost? even with the almighty 1% back
from ebates, thats a ripoff.

Would Best Buy or Circuit City B&M pricematch to an online retailer if I take
a printout of the ecost webpage to them? Ill try this weekend and see.
Buy.com will pricematch ecost.com but I cant find this remote on Buy.com...

Ive got about 8 remotes - 6 Pioneer components (receiver,CD,tape,LD,DVD,VCR),
satellite, Sony Wega (from the 800.com deal) so would love to just use 1.

I just saw this remote at the Sony Outlet in Lake Elsinore, CA for 69.99. For those who don't care whether it's refurbished or not, I think that's a pretty good price.

Chalk up another vote for this remote - I've had mine for two months and it's definately the most bang for the buck out there. Sure other remotes are may have more bells and whistles, but I can't justify spending more on a remote than I spent on my DVD player......

Check out Remote Central for an in depth review of this remote, as well as a forum, tips, and hacks. This remote can learn commands from virtually any IR remote (sorry no RF). I use it to control all my stuff - even my PS2.

Looks real nice sitting on a coffee table - not recommended if you want a remote to hold in your hand while you channel surf.

If anybody wants a real remote, a Marantz RC5000i, let me know. I can get them for $325. Yes it's expensive, but at least you don't have to look at that ugly Sony remote on your coffee table! The Sony looks like a fine remote for the price, but the RC5000 is just SOOOOO much better looking.
