However, for $99 and the ability to overclock the E7200 to 3.16 GHz right out of the box, I may have to make a trip to Fry's and pick this deal up. The only reason I hesitate at this point is because I suspect Fry's will have one of their "One Day Only" sales tomorrow. I have really been wanting to pick up a Q6600...

Ask and you shall...

That Q6600/ECS combo is on sale tomorrow for $150. So wait a day for that deal or buy this one today and if you change your mind, pick up that combo tomorrow and return this one within the next 15 days.

You get around 3.1ghz out of the box with this combo by changing the built-in bsel setting on the board with stock voltage most of the time.

If that is the case, then I will definately be making a trip to Fry's tomorrow. Hello quad-core goodness.

Rifleman - how did you know this was coming?

It's listed in today's ad.

With that said, is the Q6600 retail box or no? If so, would anyone be willing to pick one of these combo's up for me and ship to NY for a decent cost?

How's everyone's luck oc'ing this combo? I tried 1333FSB, but it's not Prime stable at stock voltage, 1.1875v. I guess I could try a pin-mod to bump up the Vcore.

Pin mod to bump up vcore would help you go higher. What is the voltage that your board is actually running the chip at? (Use CPU-Z to check real-time voltage). I'd guess it's around 1.12-1.13v

My experience is that almost all of them will run at 1333FSB, but less than half of them can pass Orthos 12hours+.

Thanks, I'll check actual voltage with CPU-Z. It's pretty stable as far as booting and installing XP, but fails OCCT in less than a minute, a little longer in Orthos.

You can use the unlink option in the BIOS to turn down the FSB in 1Mhz steps until it's stable (e.g. 1320). Warning: there are certain FSBs that just won't work right, resulting in Windows registry error or stop error BSOD during boot. I believe 1300 is one of them.

I use the unlink option regardless because I want to run my memory faster than 667Mhz (currently have it at 933Mhz).

If you pin mod to up the voltage, you aren't limited to 1333FSB either. You can take the FSB up in 1Mhz steps to the limit of the higher voltage.
