Notably, a report from last month based on specifications leaked via GFXBench seemingly all but confirmed a variety of facts about the device: 5.2-inch 1440p display, a 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and Android L (surprise, surprise). While some of these remain true, a recent device we are directly familiar with has shown that only some of this aligns with reality.

The device we’ve learned about is actually going to pack a 5.92-inch screen, as mentioned above, with QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440. This dense screen according to our calculations comes out to be 498 PPI—a fairly impressive number for any smartphone. As such, it’s going to have a battery that is equally impressive, packing 3,200 mAh to power all of those pixels.

As for the camera, it’s actually going to be a 13 MP shooter on the back, and as previously rumored, we can corroborate that it should have the ability to shoot 4K UHD video at launch. As for the front shooter, the device is going to have a 2 MP shooter that is indentical to the one on the 2nd generation Moto X.

It is of our understanding at this point that the device will have a Snapdragon 805 processor as many have suspected and will pack 3 GB of RAM. As far as flash storage goes, we’re directly familiar with at least one device of the 32 GB storage capacity, but other capacities will likely also be available at some point. Interestingly, we’re yet to become aware of a “Shamu” device running 64-bit Android L (which was one of its most important new features), which leads us to question if the final product will take advantage of those performance improvements.

6 inch screen.

Phablets are fine and I get that the Nexus is a developer device and Google obviously want developers to put a little love into those bridging sized devices, but...

... well, it would be nice to have a new Nexus phone as well.

Would make sense, if they would be pushing a "phablet/phone+" layout for developers to follow, maybe they will be more successful that with tablets. I hope they show something taking good use of that huge screen, not just more of the same. If they do that, then I welcome it, even if I am not a huge fan of huge phones.

PS: if the front isn't all black it isn't a Nexus in my eyes

If it's a moto sourced device, think it will have active display?

If they go the phablet route then this may not replace the Nexus 5, but will instead sell alongside it. Or, we will also get a new Nexus 5, though I don't think that will happen.

Wonder if the camera on this thing is going to be a complete POS like every other Nexus device and Moto made device?

This has me worried as well. Not a BIG deal honestly, but I would like to see Nexus phones have awesome cameras for a change.

Sweet, always wanted a nexus phablet. Hopefully they make a smaller one for those that prefer the smaller form factor.

I know Google won't do microSD storage but at least have a 64GB version. A camera up to par would be nice too.

If this is that large, it looks like I'm going to pick up a Nexus 5 for a low-low price once the X drops unless it has killer features.

I wish they would just stop with the 1440p thing. It's such a waste of money. Most of us dont even have 1440p on our desktops, where the extra pixels would actually matter.

Yup. It would kinda be the best of both worlds- a Moto built phone with a decent camera and (presumably) a screen that is not Samsung's N-1 OLED.

If the N-1 AMOLED is the Galaxy S4's screen and it has a decent camera along with 64GB, I'd be extremely tempted actually.

Screens pretty much ceased to be a concerning factor for me once they've reached that level.

Doesn't the 2014 Moto X have a worse camera than the S4 and a slightly worse screen?
