Nexus devices usually don't have locked boot loaders. Not sure about Att and Verizon but if you got a nexus you bought one for the ability to do what you wanted to it.

my nexus 5 (google play store) has a locked bootloader.

its only carrier unlocked.

galaxy nexus is bootloader locked too.

But cant they be unlocked with a simple command? I know for HTC it was easy until Verizon specified they could not hand out unlock keys for the boot loader through the dev section.

I got my nexus 6 through Motorola and will be using it in Verizon. First thing I'll do is unlock the boot loader.

i am not signing new contract either

canadian telecoms hate you and their pricing shows it.

Yea I've been off contract for a while. Not going under one now so I don't mind paying the full amount. Moto gave me 12 months 0% anyway just like a carrier would.

Oh I agree - it's just I wouldn't be surprised if the AT&T and Verizon versions ended up being truly bootloader locked. Pure Android is what I imagine is important to Google, not having an unlocked bootloader (I think most people consider using fastboot to unlock = unlocked).

Anything with Google Apps has to have a locked bootloader. It can be SIM unlocked to use on any carrier.

The Nexus does indeed have a locked bootloader but it is also easy to unlock.

any actual reviews yet? For 750 dollars this thing has to in a dead heat with every top smart phone in every single category. Nothing can be marginal anymore, like the camera or lack of extra features like ANT+ support.

Damn, $250 on contract for a Nexus? Guess I'll wait a little longer. No rush to renew my contract.

The anandtech review is up, and ghee nexus 6 has worse battery life than the 5? How is that even possible?

facepalm, unacceptable for a normal priced nexus now. Nexus devices have always had compromises but you had to give them some slack for the cost but no more

Boo - I had thought the 1440p screen was using Samsung's newest AMOLED tech but it looks more like last year's tech at a high resolution. Definitely a step down from the Note 4.

Battery life I *hope* is due to software optimization. I was hoping ART and Volta in Lollipop would result in higher battery life for all phones that eventually get Lollipop.

I think the battery issues are due to android 5. As for the screen it looks fine for me coming from an m7 lol.

Seems like a flop based on the AT review.
$650 and typical bad battery life, low display brightness.
Definitely not the premium device we were expecting.
