I wouldn't worry about battery I mean it will have plenty of customizations from developers either way.

They do mention the note 4 screen is brighter. I've never ever been able to stand touchwiz though.

Actually he goes to say in the review the screen is punchier than before and contrast and colors stand out.

So if battery life is the only concern that's nothing software can't correct. Lollipop is suppose to improve it but lately there was a bug. My m7 with a custom Rom gets about 10 hours or more with heavy use.

I don't know how much people are expecting to have the phone last but if I can get through the work day with how much I use it, then I'll be fine.

A Note 4 GPE would be amazing.
Note 4 is nice, just not sure how I feel about touchwiz and samsung at the moment.

If one could root, theoretically you could remove touchwiz entirely. Don't know if you would lose anything significant. have to research this.

Rooting Samsung devices has been tough lately. Yea if you root it you can run aosp roms. I think you do loose software functionalities that come with touchwiz just like you loose htc camera effects when you throw aosp on a phone that normally runs sense. But devs do have tweaks to make up for it. It's just rooting one takes a while usually if it's a Samsung and because of Knox.

Good news, based on the reviews I have read, Nexus 6 availability should improve quickly.

The anandtech review is up, and ghee nexus 6 has worse battery life than the 5? How is that even possible?

Yes, they increased the battery capacity significantly, and somehow managed to end up with worse battery life and worse CPU performance too.

What a disappointment. If this is Google's idea of flagship, Apple have nothing to worry about.

I don't know how Google managed to get worse life than the N5 w/ a 300mah battery.

Yea, big screen, but so does the Note 4 and lots of other phones these days.

It makes you wonder if the issue is with the early version of lollipop. 5.0.1 on it's way soon?

Also what is with the Web browsing chart, it's that with the screen on the whole time? I have no idea how they could get to 9 hours screen time in a nexus 5.

I am really interested to test this out myself, because honestly I don't trust AT's battery life reviews. Wasn't there some crazy wifi battery drain bug which delayed 5.0's launch? Even forgetting that, 9 hours screen on time with the Nexus 5? Is that a joke? Unfortunately AT is not very transparent at all when it comes to their reviews so we don't know a lot important facts regarding their testing methods. It's odd that they rushed out their Nexus 6 review while it's still in the pre-order phase, when they usually like to take their time with other products (to provide a more in depth and accurate review).

Honestly the best review of how much battery you get will be identified by you and only you, your daily activities and usage. I mean most of us don't buy a phone like this just to run benchmarks and such.

I am not so certain. All the reviews I have read put it way below the Note 4 when it comes to battery life. The Note 4's screen is slightly smaller, but it runs TouchWiz that sits in RAM all the time. And the Nexus 6 is supposedly running more battery efficient OS than previous "pure" Android even without TouchWiz. (project Volta?)

It kinda annoys me because I have been thinking the Nexus 6 could be the phone that I have been waiting for. I will wait for user reviews and will definitely check out in person before making a decision. As it is the phone does not look like built from ground up to be a Nexus device, but rather an afterthought on a planned Motorola phablet.

Also of concern is the size and weight of the phone. I see lots of reviewers saying that the phone is not as comfortable to hold and carry as the Note 4 and iPhone 6+. It is not really a secret to some here that I am not a fan of convex back but I have been willing to overlook it if its battery life justifies the bulk.

Well, I guess it is not impossible that the new OS is the one to blame. I really hope that is the case.

It's not just AT - most reviews I've read have found battery life to be somewhere between not great and OK. I don't think I've seen a single review where it's gotten good battery life (Note 4 level).

Now after some updates, I'd expect it to be a good deal better than the Nexus 5 but I'm not expecting a dramatic increase that suddenly gets it to a completely different tier.

Yeah I'm seeing between 3 and 5 hours of screen on time, though SoT is very subjective and really differs between users. I definitely wasn't expecting Note 4 level battery life since it's not the same panel, and the screen is bigger and 5.0 just launched so there's bound to be bugs, but I was hoping it would be close. We'll see how it goes, I am eager to get my hands on the N6 and see for myself!

Also, AT really needs a new battery test method. The numbers are so inflated and no where close to real life numbers that it makes it impossible to take them seriously or try to translate them to real world usage.

i haven't decided on Nexus 6, i was diehard on it today, before the reviews and now i'm on the fence. Based on the lackluster reviews, i went into the store for a note 4 but they were out of stock!

I can live with the last gen AMOLED but i'm really looking for a great camera and battery life and after Lolipop on my Nexus 5, i have to figure out what i truly want.

Same here. The Nexus 6 threw a monkey wrench on my first ever phablet purchase plan. It is still early so I try to keep a positive outlook, but the Note 4 looks better and better.

Edit: Did any review take a shot of sub-pixel arrangement of the Nexus 6's screen? IIRC there is a huge difference between the S4's screen and the Note 3's screen, not to mention the Note 4's screen.

A lot of reviews showed good battery consumption and a pretty good screen although the white seemed slightly yellow. I guess it depends on the person. I for one will definitely order this.

I'm going to wait until mine comes in and try it out. You have 14 days to return to Motorola or Google if you don't like it. Aside from touchwiz which I can not use, I'm not sure what other phone I would get since I've been waiting for this phone for a long time.

My current phone is getting a bit dated and I don't want to reflash another Rom to freshen it up. Hopefully I get no screen issues with the n6 and the battery lasts me through the day and I think it should.

The math simply doesn't add up for the N5 to have better battery life than the N6. I think it's clear software issues are at play here, but other reviewers have mentioned that it's still better than the N5... But not according to AT.

I do not find it that surprising if you compare display area vs. battery size Nexus 5 has a better ratio. Then you add the predominately white web based test and the older generation AMOLED (that's the only rational explanation I can think of for the big difference from the Note 4) and the results are here. It's true that this was tested with pre-release software, but I would be surprised if there would be a huge improvement on the release software.

How many hrs of battery is everyone expecting to get? I usually am happy if I can get up to 8 hrs while doing everything on my phone at work and then it usually lasts me until I go to bed. My m7 is getting bad battery now because it's old but before this it would last from 6am to 11pm with heavy use and no charging in between.
