Just got my 64gb white N6!

First off, the phone is freaking huge. I have rather large hand in that I can easily palm a basketball and I think this is my limit LOL. I can still type one handed but no way can I reach the very top of the phone one handed. Too my surprise the phone doesnt feel that heavy in hand or in the pocket.

I got the white version and this thing is SLIPPERY. You will need some kind of case for sure and this may be a deal breaker for me. I hate phone cases and have never had one on any of my phones. I may try to get the most minimalist and thinnest case I can find and see how I like that.

Screen and front facing speakers are AWESOME. I coming from a Moto X (2013) and that phone has a pretty good speaker, but man the speakers on the N6 are awesome. Ill say about as good as my old HTC One M7. The screen is fine but I have never been picky about phone screens unless it totally sucked.

The main reason I decided to buy the N6 was because of the camera. I wanted something better to take photos and videos while snowboarding and this camera may do the trick. The OG Moto X's camera sucks. My initial impression so far of the camera is pretty impressive. I really wished they would have used this camera on the Moto X 2014. I would have picked the Moto X over the N6 easily.

Those are my initial impressions so far. Cant really say anything about battery yet, but it should be plenty good enough for me. I am not a heavy phone users by any means. My OG Moto X lasted me a day easily.

I know what you mean about cases. I'm the same, so I always go as minimal as possible. The N6 is a really nice looking phone so it deserves as little as possible I bought some Spigen case and I really like it. Very minimalist, clear back (so it looks like it's naked), very thin around the edges. Check it out. The pictures on Amazon don't really do it must justice.

I too rarely use cases, but when I do, it's very minimal ones just to protect from normal wear and tear.

I have four cases now, including the Spigen listed above, and it's probably my favorite. I also have a clear Ringke which I like a lot, but doesn't offer much in the way of extra grip.

Anyone else's 64gb showing only 25gb free?

Did a fastboot erase userdata and cache still shows 25gb free. Check boot loader it says phone is 32 gb. Serial numbers don't match and Moto chat took my number and email said it would be escalating to tier 2 then closed the chat window.

Yea it's pathetic. The box clearly states it's 64gb but I received a 32. Waiting for Motorola to call me back. Debating weather I should take the phone in to work with me in case they do. After waiting a month for it to finally ship too. If they can't get me a replacement I'm returning it for a refund and forgetting about ordering another Motorola device.

Yea I know it's terrible. All this time I get the phone I love it then I realize the order number does not even match on the invoice, check the phone, yup not the right model.

Motorola chat support took my email and number and said they would call and escalate the issue, then they just close the chat window.

Ugh... that sucks. Sorry dude. (at least you have a phone)

After not getting much help through chat support, my expected delivery date of 12/2 has unexpectedly been pushed back to 12/17. They didn't even bother to send me an email. I had to find out by checking on their page. They've already charged my card since the initial order date of 11/6.

Going to give them a call and possibly just cancel the order. What a clusterf* of a launch.

Their dates are all out of wack. When mine had a 11/26 delivery date the email said it was delayed to 12/1. I eventually got a tracking number at the end of the week before it was suppose to arrive.

If it is a moto order they won't let you cancel.

Never got a single update through email or even a courtesy email that it got delayed (had to find out status through their website) --- This, after getting the "it's in the warehouse, ready to get picked up" from their CSR on the day it was supposed to be delivered.

I'm not going to wait for another two weeks for them to "maybe" get it to me. That charge has been on my card for almost a month. I'm getting it cancelled, one way or the other.

Well then I would do a charge back on your card first.

Demand to speak to a manager and flip over the phone. Have someone assist you in the act so that the manager on the phone thinks you are going completely nuts. Threaten to summon your lawyer and bank for fraud, etc.

It works wonders sometimes. ^^

Its odd since on xda the only people that did not get their phones were our 64gb white models and one day they all ship at the same time but someone plain screwed up my order. I'm going to give them 24-48hrs to get back to me then I'll contact them. I mean the box was sealed I guess I am just that unlucky. First I dealt with the one plus one issue for like 2 months now this lol.

bummer, my moto 64gb CW order was pushed from 12/9 to 12/17. I might be out of the country by then...

will have to "survive" with my 64gb blue.

i hate cases .. for my nexus 5 i bought a spigen ultra clear .. hated it .. too much additional bulk

N6 is so slippery and i heard good things about Ringke clear with caps for USB and headphones (i rarely use either) and the QI charger works through it.
I have the Ringke Slim case (the one without the caps), and I like it. I can't imagine any case being any thinner. But also, I'm sure it offers about zero drop protection.

And it fits great, but it's super hard to get it off, once you put it on.

Here are some more thoughts on my impression after 2 days of using the phone.

I ordered the Bear Motion slim case over at Amazon and it has totally made the phone much more enjoyable to hold. Its better IMO than Ringke Slim as it is just as minimal if not more but it has a sandy texture to it. Totally usable now with one hand.

Battery life is not bad and may be slightly better than my Moto X but again I am not a power user by any means.

The camera continues to impress me with great clarity and colors. This was the main selling point that got me to purchase this monstrosity of a phone.

The screen is fine. I dont have any burn in issues and the brightness is fine.

Lollipop is great and everything is smooth. The phone did stutter here and there the first day I used it but it has smoothed out considerably over the last day and is an absolute joy to use. From a fluidity standpoint, I think Google has finally caught up to iOS and Windows. It was pretty close with Kitkat but its absolutely just as smooth and fluid now with Lollipop.

All in all, I think its a great phone. I still however have reservations about keeping it. I went and checked out the Sony Z3 at Tmo and much to my surprised I kinda dug it. It made me think about giving the Z3c a chance. I dont love the Sony UI but its minimal compared to others and I can replaced the launcher with Google's version. I think the N6 is perfect phone for those that spend a lot of time on the phones watching media and playing games, unfortunately for me, I dont really do any of those things. Ill give it a few more days and maybe Ill change my tune....

Both of my sons just got Z3 phones... It's a fantastic phone. It would probably be my first choice if I didn't want a 6" phone.

I love my z3, decided not get a super sized phone. My only Nexus 6 gripe is the size. I still might get it later down the road.

More thoughts....

I just received my Z3 compact and I am really liking the form factor so far.

Few thoughts on how it compares to the Nexus 6.

Obviously, there is a huge size difference and having used the N6 for over a week now, I have actually come accustomed to the larger size and it doesnt bother me as much anymore. For those who worry about the size, I really think its not that big of a deal. When I pick up the phone now, it seems normal.

The Z3c is still on Kitkat but it is screaming fast. I am not a huge fan of Sony's UI but it is tolerable unlike Touchwiz or Lg's UI. There are some aspect of the Sony UI that needs a huge overhaul like the phone app. It looks like first version of Android...

Screen. The screen on the Z3c is great. I was actually worried about stepping back down to a 720p screen after using a large 6in QHD screen, but text and colors on this Sony screen is really nice. No complaints here.

Speakers. The Z3c has dual front facing speakers but they are in no way comparable to the speakers on the N6. Not even close. Music sounds little muffle. I honestly dont think its even as good as the rear facing speaker on the OG Moto X. Its not horrible but just meh.

Camera. I was really excited to try out the camera on the Z3c, and I have to say that I am completely disappointed. I am not a huge fan of Sony's jpegs on their cameras, and I can confidently say it sucks just as bad on their phones. Colors are flat and there is visibly more noise than compared to the N6. I was shock really. I have tried shooting both in Superior Auto mode and manual and both modes leaves a lot to be desired. I cant believe how disappointed I am about the camera.

So, while I think as whole the Z3c is a great phone, I cant just get over how underwhelming the camera performs. Ill test the phone for a few more days but I think I will be sending it back and keeping the N6.

Decided to use the 32 GB I mistakenly received from Motorola while they take their time to send me the 64gb whenever that will be. Off charger at 6am today. Usage is 45min to an hour of blutooth streaming in the car, texting , tapa, some Facebook, browsing while at work. It's now 6:39pm and I have 27% battery left. I guess not bad.
