If you wanna spoil the movie, post here and not in the other thread.

I wont be seeing it until 8pm and probably wont get home until 11, so for some of us that will be the first chance to discuss the film.

IF you were one of the pre-release screeners and there's no legal obligation for you to keep quiet, you can go ahead and post right now.

************SPOILERS**************

I think what I was surprised by the most was Disney willing to portray the rebels in a semi negative light, namely when killing an innocent in cold blood (abit out of necessity but still). Of the easter eggs I noticed (besides the obvious ones) was General Hux from Episode 7 serving the role of a jr. officer aboard the Executor, the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels, a wanted hologram for Kyle Katarn, Senator Bail Organa from the prequels, Rogue pilot Garven Dreis from the Trench run in episode 4 and possibly a Millenium Falcon sighting on Yavin 4, the latter of which does not make sense to me. (only saw it out of the corner of my eye so I could be wrong)

Yeah it was good. It definitely justified its existence, which is something 7 did not do in my opinion. Vader literally killed it.

Alright, overall an excellent film. I heard quite a few people talking as we walked out. Some dudes said it was easily in the top 3. One guy said top 2. And you know what? I dont think I disagree with him.

Only complaints are nitpicks. No real plot holes or serious story problems. No bad characters. No Jar Jar which is reason enough to see this movie.
My minor gripe is the plethora of call-backs. Some of them were neccesary, most of them were not. But there wasnt as much fanboy service as The Force Awakens. They did not shoehorn Luke in. Or Obi-wan. Or Han, or Chewie, or Jabba, or Lando, or anyone else not important to the story. They did shove the two assholes in for no particular reason, but since we all know what happens to them, its no big deal.
C-3PO's cameo was exactly what it needed to be and no more. As was R2-D2 and Senator Organa.

Leia was not only unnecessary but also badly done. The CGI was decent but on the big screen she kinda looked gross and fake. They probably could have just gotten by with her voice and a stand in.

Oh, and if I were you I would not get to attached to the characters. ANY of them. Not the bad guys or anything.

Solid movie, did not make excessive references to previous films but did borrow quite a bit. Nothing really annoying, but pretty obvious.
Even so, I recommend EVERYONE go see this at the theater sometime before New Years, if possible.

You wont be sorry.

I do have one mini plot hole. Why the hell does the Empire even bother with Stormtroopers when a logistics droid is such an efficient killing machine? This hearkens back to another Star Wars quirk that begs the question of why people are needed at all in a galaxy full of droids capable of performing almost any task.

I wasn't a fan of them blowing up the imperial base at the end like they did when they had won as the battle was over but I suppose it was an easy way of killing off the rest of the main characters like that.

Otherwise using a Hammerhead Cruiser like that to push the disabled star destroy was very nice.

Sad when the worst death of the movie was a droid.

Great film! I was hesitantly optimistic knowing that the reviews were pretty glowing. Without listing out everything they did well, my main issues with the film:

-Lack of development of the side characters (Donnie Yen was awesome!)
-Musical score was...questionable...at times. Given the fact that he about a month to put shit together, I get it. But I'm a Star Wars nerd with an affinity for classical music, so it probably isn't going to be a common complaint.

It occurs to me that a ton of the content in the trailers never even made it into the final cut. I hope a year from now we get an extended edition that throws things like pacing out of the window just to give fans a broader look into what was shot. I would like to see more of the characters fleshed out even if it hurts the story pace if only to fill in the gaps.

I really enjoyed the film. In fact I got more of what I wanted in Rogue One than I did in The Force Awakens. For me, TFA had great character development, but an absolutely terrible plot. Rogue One has a fantastic plot but could have had better character development. I'll take the latter every single time.

Was a really great movie. Certainly had some flaws.
I think some of the Vader stuff was cheesy -- his "joke" about "choking" was out of character. Actually that entire scene was useless and unnecessary. But the closign scene with him was bad ass.

Actually, the whole last 20 mins or so were pretty awesome.

seeing again on Saturday. 2nd viewing is always the most telling for me.

I thought the Tarkin CGI was amazingly well done -- probably the best I've seen. Still noticeable of course, but it was pretty incredible. Leia was Ok and it was a nice little surprise at the end.

Most of the characters were complete throwaways though. Yes, I get how sounds stupid since that is/was pretty much the whole point -- they were all going to die no matter what). But honestly, I don't recall many names and some weren't even needed and cluttered the story line. None were BAD, just several not warranted.

Great movie. Great fantasy;
Vader stuff was just right. The choking bit was setup for Orson Krennic and he acted his ambition out very very well. He made a very good villain.
While character development was rough, it took off well. And why the Droid death was the "best" death.
Music was questionable a lot of times indeed.
In my top 2. This and the Save-the-Whales one.
