Nah. Just both happen to wear white. Thrawn was like blue skinned alien (which made him ultra-rare in the Empire as the Empire was xenophobic).

Just seeemed like there were a lot of tie ins during the movie. I know it's a bit of a long shot blue skin and all.

Did imperials where white before?

And everyone saying Vader would never be snarky, well remember this is the first time we are seeing him go from Anakin to Vader and Anakin was a snarky *bleep*

This takes place just a few days before ANH, not really much time to mature.

And to answer your question about the white uniforms, yes.

To answer a previous question: Yes, there were trans-galactic hypercom systems in star wars. Based on what we saw it would appear the Rebels had a rudimentary form without hologram transmission.

Saw it last night in 3D. The only other movie I've seen in 3D was The Force Awakens. I said to myself back then I'd never watch another 3D movie but I did and it still sucked. I hate the forced depth of field and a lot of this movie was really dark with the glasses on. I plan to rewatch it in 2D.

While the final battle was easily the best part of the movie there were some things that irked me:

How is it that two Star Destroyers can't take on the Rebel fleet but Vader's ship can just jump in and insta-gib almost every rebel vessel in its path? I get that he would have creme of the crop as far as personnel but its like the other two ships didn't even put up a fight.

Ok so they turducken'd Liea's ship into the main rebel ship...wait what?

Vader knows they have the plans. He knows where those plans are and thats why he appears in the corridor when he does. He still has full command of the force and can clearly see Joe Bob Rebel trying to open the door and pass a hard copy of the plans along.

Rogue One Alternate Ending: Vader force grips guy with plans and slams him into a side wall while simultaneously pulling the plans to himself. Rebels have no plans, Death Star remains active, main Rebel Base is vaporized at Yavin 4. RIP Star Wars 4-7.

That is my biggest issue with them passing a physical copy directly to the Tantiv IV. They should have had Leia's ship jump in system at the last minute and then had the Rebel flagship transmit the plans to her as the last act of a decimated and dying fleet. That would also explain why the Tantiv IV wasn't immediately tractor beamed when it started to undock and how it initially managed to escape from Vader's ship.

Actually in this scenario the Empire doesn't find the rebel base. But while we're on the subject, can you just imagine if that imperial in New Hope had not opted to hold his fire on the escape pod? He did it on a whim, but his actions would have changed the whole saga.

Yeah I over-reached a bit there but the Death Star would have gone about its merry way blowing stuff up left and right at Tarkin's whim.

FYI - 3D is amazing, with the right movies. Avatar is absolutely incredible in 3D. HOWEVER: Avatar is the ONLY 3D movie I've seen that has had excellent 3D. I saw Rogue One in 3D & it was a complete waste - not only were there no good "pop out" 3D parts, but it made the entire movie dark (dim), which I wasn't very happy about.

I would suggest watching Avatar 2 when it comes out in 3D (especially if you can find a theater with digital projectors instead of film projectors).

A couple of us in here expressed how dark the movie was in 2D at points, so 3D must have been atrocious with the shades on.

I thought it was well done. The story was good and integrated into A New Hope better than the prequels did.

2016 Vader fight is how badass Vader should have always been.

Needed more John Williams.

Finally controls being placed high up in hard to reach places is such a sci fi trope. Think she had it tough? Try doing it in an EVA suit with 3 Aliens on your ass

All the scenes from the trailers cut from the final film.

I must say, the magnitude of the cuts are staggering. I dislike how Jyn has kind of a spunky, cocky personality in the trailers but has a really bland seemingly Keanu Reeves placeholder type character in the finished product. I hope to god we get an extended cut next year with all these scenes included. If more character moments are included, even more so.

That is probably unlikely. It was not solely at Tarkin's discretion. He received approval from Sidious to use the Death Star to destroy one planet to send a message to the other systems of what awaited them if they rebelled. Sidious would likely have not gone overboard, rubber stamping use of the Death Star over and over again without sufficient reason for doing so would likely only vindicate the rebels. Sidious envisioned the Death Star as the kind of weapon you only need to fire once. It does its job merely by existing after that, a job undone by the rebels destroying it.

I would be curious to know how the movie ended before the reshoots. In the trailers, there is one scene where Jyn is clearly holding the Death Star plans while running along the beach towards the approaching imperial walkers, which suggests a totally different ending sequence.

Overall, tonally captures the look and feel of the OT, but a lot of jarring plot holes and missed opportunities.

The sequence for transmitting the plans to the Rebel fleet was somewhat confusing, and the Princess Leia cruiser turduckened inside the Rebel flag ship didn't make a whole lot of sense, especially given her first lines with Darth Vader in ANH.

Also they made the whole shield thing far too complicated. In ROJ the shield was there, you knew the shield was there yet you never actually saw it or needed to physically see it.

I wish they spent more time on Jedha. The whole Saw resistance and kyber crystals aspect of the plot needed more time to flesh out.

Tarkin, Red leader, Gold leader and Walrus Man were all nice tie ins to ANH. CGI Leia was really bad.

Vader having a castle on the planet where Anakin officially died was fitting to the character, as was his final scene in the movie.

It was certainly far better than the prequels, on par with TFA, but not quite OT great.

The only thing I thought of was unless they were not the normal star destroyers we are used to, such as victory class destroyers, the battle drained the shields on the rebels ships as was mentioned a bit during the fight.

Plus the ships got very close to the star destroyer that jumped in to block them although how that was planned was a very poor plot choice for me also.

I didn't like Force Awakens because it was literally the same movie we've already had but it had great character development and the pacing of the story was well done. This movie's pacing was just downright horrible and the characters sucked. Like already said, the new Droid was the only mildly memorable character in this, everyone else is forgettable.

I've only seen it once so far, but the only cut seen of her I'm seeing is the Tie Fighter and her trying to transmit the files. Are these actually cuts or those clips where they put things together to draw you in but don't actually happen?

Anyone know how Anakin gets the Dark Vader name? And who is that creature that tells Vader Krennic is here to see him? That wouldn't be Supreme Leader Snoke?

I saw it in 3D as well, I knew better but my roommate bought the tickets and the 3D show time was the best one for us. Didn't completely ruin the movie, but came close. The glasses never fit, it was dark, and make half the movie out of focus. So annoying.

Lyra's sacrifice makes more sense if she is a Jedi. A mother is not going to orphan her daughter and walk into certain death the way she did. When she approached with that blanket hiding what she was holding, I expected her to whip out a lightsaber.

Also, did anyone else notice that the Death Troopers sounded exactly the same as the Combine troopers from HL2?

I said the EXACT same thing to my son (who just finished HL2 for the first time a couple of weeks ago) during the movie. It was uncanny.
I'm on the fence about if it would have been better to have her a Jedi or not. It would have made more sense, given the scene, but then it opens it up to "well how many other Jedi are still out there?"
