Ever since I was a kid watching the original trilogy, I had a suspicion there were different sizes of star destroyers. Sometimes it seemed like they were huge, other times like when the millenium falcon is hiding on the back of one, thry dont seem quite as big.
Well the confusing part for me is that the two star destroyers in the final battle just seem to sit there, not doing anything.
There's a lot in this movie that doesn't make senseWell the confusing part for me is that the two star destroyers in the final battle just seem to sit there, not doing anything.
ANH opens with one proving quite intimidating, and the ones in TESB were quite formidable and engaged. ROTJ started the trend of Star Destroyers as window dressing.Dudes, in every other star wars movie space battles, the star destroyers just sit there!
Well.. they didn't just sit there.. they kinda fell.. part of the plot

No Bothans. I am disappoint.
I liked the concept but disliked the execution. D2's death was done well and felt natural but the other ones felt forced.oh here's the spoiler thread. nice.
as mentioned there were some questionable moments in the movie from little things like the stupid placement of the dish alignment control, to a random master switch, to Leia being near the battle in the first place, etc... But overall this was one of the better star wars movies and definitely better than TFA by far.
I still can't believe how they actually killed off every fargin character that we may have started to connect to which we met in this movie. That took balls. It was sad but realistic. Gotta give them props for that. And the battle scenes. Nice.
Looking forward to the next.
I think someone else mentioned Leia may have been in battle because she was on a ship that was called into battle on a whim. The rebels found out that the other rebels were fighting on the ground and had to go and support them right away, no time to make preparations.oh here's the spoiler thread. nice.

I think they did that because it would not make sense for any of those characters to play a critical role in getting the death star plans but then to be totally absent in episodes 4-6.I still can't believe how they actually killed off every fargin character that we may have started to connect to which we met in this movie. But no transmissions were "beamed" to her blockade runner ship! They were physically handed to her. Technically, she ain't lying. Just saying...
Considering they based the entire plot of Rogue One around that little detail, you would think it was the one detail they could get right
The explanation was that the file was so large it could not be beamed. Vader could have just assumed that whatever data he was looking for was beamed. Considering that the Empire had the technology to beam the data I would guess that Vader just assumed the data was beamed between rebel ships. Or Vader did not know what he was looking for.
What's interesting is that Vader could have easily killed Joe Schmo rebel who was carrying the death star plan data when trying to squeeze through the door, but Vader didn't try and stop him. To me that suggests that Vader didn't know that Joe Schmo rebel was carrying the death star plans, otherwise he would have stopped him.
Or its a plot hole due to mouse demanding that the movie needs more Vader. I've read that the Vader boarding party scene was an add on in the reshootsHe probably would have just force yanked him into a choke if he knew that he had the plans. From Vader's perspective it was just as likely he was reaching through to someone calling for help (as folks are want to do when Vader's saber comes out). It would make sense that upon capturing Leia, he wouldn't know exactly what he was looking for, but he'd know that she had it.
Ok that was hilarious.
Opens in China today, but sales could be hurt because the breathing air is so hazardous.

Didn't movie theatres used to draw in summer crowds by advertising that they had air conditioning back in the days when few people did?
Maybe they should do something similar in China, only advertise air filtration: Come inside! LOWEST PM2.5 in the city!
The fact people may have to walk through a cloud of death to actually get there is a bit of a downside, though.
