Essentially, they're saying because her boyfriend fired at the cops first after they broke in, the cops were within their rights to use deadly force in response.
Even if the suspect was not in the house and the PD knew that?

Let me ask you why do we have self defense laws that allow you to shoot someone actively breaking into your house?

You are telling me if police bust into your house unjustified you can't defend yourself. What if you have enough weaponry to kill the invading cops are you charged with murder/manslaughter?

Remember the Bothem Jean case. What if he had a weapon fired back and killed Amber Guyer should he be charged?

Please resolve the 2 laws that are in complete conflict.

Geez the officer charged with wanten endangerment was based on bullets that entered OTHER apartments not the ones that killed Breonna Taylor. This is a slap in the face

I like the double standard you support:

Scared police officers facing a stranger? Shoot at will.

Scared black people in their home facing unknown people breaking into their home: They have no right to defend themselves.

Apparently blue lives matter more than everybody else’s.

So what we have is a government force, whose lives matter more than the people they are policing with a history of not being held accountable with the ability to use deadly force when they deem necessary. Necessary as defined by the officers themselves with no universal standard.

Certainly seems like smart policy to me, how about you?/eyeroll

Absolute horseshit.

Inaction this bad makes me wonder if people involved are just trying to help Trump instigate the violence he needs. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Bill Barr made some phone calls, let them know his personal opinion on what should happen.

Right up there with Eric Garner's killers facing jack shit, while the guy filming them was arrested. Stomach turning.

DA spoke at the Republican convention even though he knew racial tensions were high and this case was a powder keg.

I wonder if he told Trump, I won't charge the cops with her death. Not out of the realm of possibility.

It's amazing how you can get so fucking angry about something you know is coming and still somehow get angrier when it happens.

and they have started to arrest people

They're arresting people because this is about the state's power over the people. So any people who dare question the state's power will be arrested for doing so.

I think when and IF the judge releases the grand jury testimony, to know what they knew, we would be able to have a better understanding. There are already things we know now we didnt know a month ago...i.e the police DID knock first, whereby they were fired upon. So its not as easy as they busted in and started shooting. We need ALL the info presented to the grand jury.

Still. Its a terrible loss.

That's a bad analogy.

And you know of evidence that the officers knew this at the time?

You are excusing incompetence. Should incompetence be a death sentence? Is it ok that Americans are killed by the government on accident?

One thing I found disturbing was that the reason they were there in the first place was because they believed breonnas apartment was being used as a package drop AND that breonna herself and her boyfriend were both not suspects in the case.

That just seems like really bad policing and detective work. The fact that non suspect was killed should immediately result in the firing of all involved, including the judge, the supervisors, and of course the police officers.

They knocked, but nobody can actually confirm the announce. According to walker, nobody replied to their asking who it was.

It's possible they just didn't hear it. It's also possible cops lied about announcing and just knocked. If you're going to barge in, makes sense to announce for your own safety if you feel like it's safe to knock first.

Oh, and walker is a druggie, what's your definition of a "druggie"?

My bad. It was the ex-boyfriend.

LEO's are supposed to be highly trained for this stuff. It's also why the officer who fired 10 shots blindly into the apartment, words used by his superior, has been fired afaik.

Where's the body can footage to support the LEO's story? They're in CYA mode.

Yeah but like any job, you'll have incompetent and poor fit employees. Usually incompetence doesn't hurt anyone, and companies just cull the weakest links, but obviously the nature of being a cop is different than most jobs.

Why are citizens consistently tasked with operating with better discretion than people we train for high stress situations?

Rosenbaum wasn't. Gaige wasn't. Sk8er boi wasn't. How many justice liberals thought they were doing the right thing? Lots. Yet Kyle wasn't an active shooter; he was going to the cops; and Rosenbaum found and attacked Kyle over "self-defense" despite Kyle having already escaped (assuming a controversy did occur e.g. point gun at Rosenbaum).

Doesn't seem right to me. Why not charge with manslaughter and the recklessness charge and let the jury sort it out? Seems like they are trying to protect someone here...

Cool, so no knock warrants are useless then, as their purpose is not to guarantee safety, but to arrest individuals before they can destroy evidence, or so I'm told.

Very gracious of you. However, this statement alone is enough to show your hand. It doesn't matter if they're "druggies" or not, rights are still rights.

Incompetence used to hurt many more people, until workers rights became a thing(OSHA, etc..). LEO are under more scrutiny, and that's warranted.

Lol, whatabouts? C'mon man, you know that comparing your average citizen (walker) to trained professionals(LEO's) is a joke.

2020.
Where a black person would have more rights as a piece of property than as a person.

What a fucking world we are in.

No knock should have never been implemented in the first place.

If the first thing I hear is my door being busted down, the very next thing you will hear is rapid fire until I have to reload.

PD is responsible Somebody knew. Besides don't you check one last time before entering the premises?

Also if they are not responsible how do you explain the falsified police report. Attempted coverup
