I haven't seen any buses lately but then it IS summer plus I don't go out around that time.

For me, summer was band practice. Trying to fritter away the whole summer was, well, trying. So I loved going to band. IIRC, it was in the morning when the buildings hadn't heated up yet. There might have been a/c but I'm not sure. By that time, late 60's, virtually everyone had a/c.

Anyway, bums and addicts ARE a part of reality for a lot of us. And you always hear news reports of such folks doing violent and/or crazy shit. But I think the vast majority are content to feed their addiction and panhandle. So the kids are probably pretty safe, mostly.

Depends on the school, I graduated a long time ago and past elementary school never had one, but my kids did in their school system.

Yep, there are school busses here and where I moved from.

Anyway, bums and addicts ARE a part of reality for a lot of us. And you always hear news reports of such folks doing violent and/or crazy shit.

OKC schools didn't have AC until about 2005.

When I was a kid (graduated 01) it got pretty goddamn hot in the buses. It was also fun because they were all that black faux leather that got about 200F direct sun, so if you got on and saw all the seats on one side were empty, well, you were about to find out why.

I remember my high school had A/C but honestly don't recall if the other schools before did. I don't think so. All of them have been torn down now as they were old buildings. My elementary school got torn down a few months ago. It was kinda bittersweet to see that. My high school was a brand new building though. As for school buses, the heat was the most important part. In June if it was hot we opened a window.

Would a bus have to be special ordered to not include AC?
I really don’t know the answer just seems everything comes with AC now.
