Hah you would think that the greatest GPU company would have taken it down by now, so what's the hold up? Oh right they can't...2 chips that are barely faster than 1 chip..... uhmazin!!!
SO YA MAN UHMAZIN!!!!!111!!1!

2 chips that are barely faster than 1 chip..... uhmazin!!!
is that really an argument?
So we should just disregard anything that uses 2 chips? Eh, so SLI and XFire shouldn't even be mentioned ever. They have 2 chips.
Quad cores are faster in parallel applications than dual cores!! HAZZAAA
The lack of logic in this entire thread is outstanding. How is this not locked yet.

Lol cmon now why is it Nvidia's problem AMD can't optimise and work with developers like them? There are reasons AMD cards are cheaper.
You say one thing and do another. After saying the above I saw more more keystrokes from you put into this topic. Can't do what you say you would do much?Yeah, they'll hear you allright.
"Nvidia, we will not buy your products until you reduce the performance of your cards in games equivilent to AMDs offerings and performance."
How many weird looks do you think that would snag.
Honestly guys, this is the dumbest idea I've heard in a long time.
Ok, you guys have fun now. This is all the keystrokes I'll put in to this topic.
/cheers.

Wellllll.... if they were innovating in a way that benefited everyone, people would probably see that as a positive and buy more of their cards to support the true innovators. Instead they use that power to stifle PC gaming and try to limit people to just their products. I think it'd work out better if they weren't trying to destroy PC gaming but rather would make it better for everyone, even competitor's products.
As of now, it's in PC gamer's interests to see Nvidia go away, and replaced by another company with a different mindset, than to encourage the behavior.
Yeah I understand..... a poster who can't keep his word.Amazing.Really, REALLY shouldn't be a concern of yours what I do. If the conversation proves interesting to me, I'll post as I like regardless if I say I'm done posting previously. Understand?
If you are talking about, Ivan, yeah sure .. he died back in '36Pavlov would enjoy this thread

Is this thread for real? Anyone remember the $5,000,000 ($4.4 to 8 million) ATi paid for HL2?

OK, fine 580 SLI > 5970.
Happy?
There are no single gpu card or dual gpu card solutions that can beat the 5970 CARD AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING...LOL.OK, fine 580 SLI > 5970.
Happy?
They are engineered better, are smaller to manufacture, requires far less circuitry and stuff in the PCB to run the GPU.
Because it's cheaper that way I'd wager. The more layers you stack up the more expensive it gets. Why are the AMD cards so long? You would think if they had "less circuitry and stuff" they would be shorter?

Wow, almost a decade ago. Although it seems a lot longer. Back then it seemed that NV3x architechture played a major part in its weaker performance. That could just as well hold true today with a
AMD's architechture, although probably not as severe an example as NV3x.
At the time of this thread the 5970 has long been EOL and not available.
edit: Here is a positive story about Nvidia employees voluteering their free time, maybe a good reason not to boycott, lol

Must have something to do with the 6990 launching soon.
I won't buy Nvidia cards again until they stop disableing PhysX GPU acceleration when AMD products are present in the sysytem. There are several things wrong with Nvidia doing this.

Dude, you won't believe how trouble I had trying to get that 9600gt working in my system. I did fet it working, but I was so pissed of I just ripped the card out afterwards. Physx wasn't impressive enough to be worth it.
